Blurple VS 1000 Watt HPS with time lapse. I did not point this out to insinuate that LED is better than HPS. The point is that Blurple grows. Not that it is better, but it works and has unique properties that may make it more suitable for some. Such as, they put out very little heat compared to HID and CFL. For a micro grower who isn't looking for great yields, especially cabinet growers, heat can be a pain in the ass. And it may cost even more money in watts to control heat. For commercial or someone who is looking to maximum yield/space/Watts? I dunno. HID or COB may very well be the better choice.

At the end of the day. Blurple does fine. That's all I gotta say bout dat.

My last Blurple grow, 4* 80W Hans panels. HSO Green Crack and DNA RockLock in 10L plastic pot, not a bad result i think.

Peace.
Where did you get those square pots? I can never find them anywhere nearby. Do they cost any more than round pots? Square pots make more sense. Guess if I really want some I might have to order them off the innerwebs.

Beautiful pics BTW.

Blurple works, indeed. But the COBs work better and cheaper. I can't see any situation in which I'd prefer blurple over COBs.

the thing I really like about the K5 series is uv/ir and I can control wattage from 0 to 430 in a shitload different settings. spectral control is unmatched! Its just expensive and very ineffiencent It makes a lot of greasy nugs! and its paid for and mine! and I like that! I think its got better insides than most think!? I havnt seen any rebranded K5s. The optics are nice! There is def penetration with the unit. I will be buying par meter in near future, because I like to see #s with my own eyes!

I'm gonna build a COB sooner or later. Just because I've tried everything else why not. Really, I think where Blurples shine above the others are the heat issues. Especially for cab/tent growers. Just about every HID thread almost always includes controlling heat issues and often ACs and mini splits. Hell I like all lights to tell the truth. They all work fine. CFL is really my least favorite after the seedling stage, but lower wattage means less wasted elec for the little ones. I don't know but, I think adding some HPS to mine tightened up the buds a bit. After I build a COB I don't think I'll ever need to invest in any more lights lol.

I know there is a lot do do with performance/longevity in the guts per say, but I think a lot has to do with care/maintance in the unit also! There are guys who really care for there shit and guys who are pigs and tear there shit up! Me? if I have a unit that runs hot? I will make that thing cool somehow! Its just the way I am!
Long story short! U care for your shit? and your shit will care for u!
I must be stoned on the 707 justtoked!

HPS will generate less heat than cheap chinese blurple units just because the efficiency is higher. That means you can get away with dissipating less watts of electric power to get the same amount of watts in PAR. The idea that you will generate less heat with a less efficient lamp is breaking the first law of thermodynamics.

Thanks man. They are from my favorite hydroshop (we call it "growshop" here), it's as cheap as the round one.

I agree with you about the "good" blurple panels, they work great and the quality is way above standar in my opinion. In term of yield, they're a bit sub-standard imho. I had better yield under a simple Phillips HPS (with a lot of heat issues). My very first grow was under Hans panel and it gave me the most amazing OGK i've ever taste. It has amaze a lot of my pothead friends and it was just from bagseeds and 320W of blurple LED.

Blurple looks much cooler too. HaHa. I grow with Blurple swag bro.
