Plenty of companies pay well, don't raise prices above market and still profit. So I think it is up for debate. I agree with you regarding taking care of people, but it also makes market sense to pay well.

The problem is that the safety net is working like a subsidy, keeping workers afloat while they work full time for inadequate pay.
I'd argue that they pay well because they want happy employees and they don't want their employees getting poached by competitors. Happy employees tend to be more productive. And having people quit or change companies hurts the bottom line as they have to hire and train someone else. I don't know of any large corporation that pays their employees well because it's the right thing to do. It's all about the bottom line.

The vast majority of companies aren't asking the question "how can we make the world a better place?", they're asking "how can we make more money?" This is what the former looks like: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/14/business/owner-of-gravity-payments-a-credit-card-processor-is-setting-a-new-minimum-wage-70000-a-year.html

You claim you are a burger flipper earning profit sharing, bonus structure and $25 an hour.

I claim that I am the king of all tooth fairies.

Absolute fact.
I thought that sounded pretty suspicious myself when I read it..

This the same guy that claimed he'd worked hard at a fast food place for 2 years and ended up making $50K, right?

Yeah... suuure ya did, buddy, suuure ya did..

i hate that guy..actually i just hate them all..all those FOX people..they're oily.
To tell you the truth, I think the women on Fox are the worst, especially that snobby asshole who's also on "The Five" with Greg cockgobbler Guttfield. They actively promote the problems right wing policies create that affect women negatively, this dumb bitch I'm talking about even went so far to say women shouldn't have the right to vote!

They don't make em any dumber than that silly bitch

The more sinister aspect of it is these people aren't actually dumb, most of them went to ivy league schools, I think O'Reilly was even valedictorian or some shit, it's all a stage performance for them, they're actors pushing a political agenda to gullible, elderly viewers who are terrified of anything not white or Christian

Not everyone working fast food jobs flips burgers. There are managers, franchise owners, corporate offices, ... all the way up to CEOs.

With a little hard work, pride and determination you could do pretty good starting in fast food.

New McDonald’s CEO salary: $1.1 million

CHICAGO — McDonald’s executive Steve Easterbrook is getting a big pay bump in his first year as CEO, while his predecessor Don Thompson stands to take home $3 million over the next year for consulting services.

Easterbrook and other McDonald’s executives, including its chief administrative officer and chief financial officer, started in their new roles Sunday. The company outlined their salary details and its retirement and consulting agreement with former CEO Don Thompson today.

As CEO, Easterbrook’s base salary jumps 69.2 percent to $1.1 million, McDonald’s said. Easterbrook now stands to get an annual bonus of 160 percent of his base salary up from his prior bonus percentage of 100 percent of his base salary.

Thompson, whose salary was $1.225 million in 2013, served as McDonald’s CEO from July 2012 until last month. During his tenure, the company often struggled to ignite sales in the United States and other major markets. One issue the company and other fast-food chains are dealing with is a union-backed push for higher wages for restaurant workers.

McDonald’s, based outside Chicago, said the board recognizes Thompson’s “unique skill set” and has an agreement for him to consult at the request of the CEO or the board. The consulting pact lasts 12 months. Thompson’s noncompete period was extended to 24 months from McDonald’s customary 18-month period.

Thompson is set to get a $1.5 million cash payment Sept. 2 and another $1.5 million payment March 2, 2016. He also stands to get a $192,308 payment in September, which McDonald’s said was “in lieu of sabbatical” along with other payments, including up to $25,000 for outplacement services.

You don't start in any of those positions normally unless you have previous experience

This guy said he jumped right in and in 2 years was making $50K..

You should just stick to copy pasting Wikipedia entries. You're not very good at anything else.
You should let that butthurt go AC. It's been, what, 8 months now? Just because a half page wiki quote destroyed your argument and your pride, and only took me 13 seconds to research, copy, paste which resulted in the utter decimation of your argument and your challenge, doesn't mean you and I can't be friends.

Don't go away angry, just go away.
