so i just spent 8 hours pulling weeds and only got half my quarter acre done.

where are poor people gonna find the time to devote an entire couple workdays to pulling weeds?

No, it's a dumb idea. Seeking and being granted a pass to travel was also thought as the height of "freedom" by slaves.

What needs to happen is cannabis is totally decriminalized. People should be able to grow it, eat it, sell it or feed it to their gerbil.
Anything less is fundamentally flawed as it assumes "they" have the right to determine what people will do, that kind of mindset is what got prohibition in the first place. You own yourself, nobody else does.

You might try better preparation to minimize weeds. I suggest a good organic base / mulch.

Pressed for time ?You might also consider hiring or bartering with an able bodied poor person or two to facilitate a consensual trade that provides mutual benefit. Your creativity regarding problem solving seems stifled by your acceptance that only through your nanny state can problems be solved. Sad. From the beginning I have said.
The fastest way to legalization is
Legal to grow and possess
Illegal to sell.

It takes every argument that those have against legalizing away
No money = no crime
Growing for yourself = not spreading the evil weed
no money = no regulation on plant size, counts etc etc

So you are admitting that part of the plan you have includes some level of jail time for cannabis related activity?
