Then why'd he have the flag?
He liked the look of it. Just like I do. It was so commonplace where we lived. It was hung at schools, everywhere.

My grand dad taught me that black people are just as good as white people, in a time where blacks were literally being hosed down the streets of Birmingham, Alabama for daring to march peacefully.

I call bullshit. No one who really felt that way would have that flag, because it's literally impossible not to know it's history. No matter how cool it looked. It would be like me rocking swastikas because, you know, they looked good. Nope, not going for it. Thanks for playing though. You've been great.

You can't understand. I realize. You didn't grow up in that era (1960s) in LA (Lower Alabama).

My grand dad taught me that blacks were being treated unfairly; that they were just as good as whites. You weren't there; I was.

I love my rebel flag. I don't hide that fact from anybody, but neither do I wave it in anyone's face.

My niece on my wife's side is Samoan. The daughter of a biracial couple in the family. In turn, she (our niece) married a black man. And my Samoan niece and her black husband are regular guests at my house. They don't mind my rebel flag at all. They eat my BBQ and smoke my weed and laugh and we all have a good time.

"Grandson, the way they treat those colored's is wrong. But take this flag, the very symbol of said wrong doing, and display it proudly!". Got it. Now it makes sense.

No. You continue to show that you can't understand. And I don't hold it against you. Just STFU. Please.
