LED Companies w/ LINKS

All those prices seem outrageously high? Are people really investing ~500$ into 96W of LED? Sure everything looks like it came out of a factory but aren't we after performance as growers rather than looks?

You ever try vanilla almond milk? I bet it'd make for a tasty combination with some hot coco.

I actually drink trader Joe's unsweetened almond milk every day in my coffee......and hot chocolate, Damn right it's tasty!

Yeah pricey, Swiss made and say it will last at least six years but give a two year warranty.......ha

@guod how do those mono xpe2 hold up vers oslon?

that happens when stuff gets build in high wage countries with customer protection laws in mind and not in some mom's basement by someone who just wants to make a quick buck.

i dare you to sell your lights in germany, we have a 2 year mandatory warranty, also some electronic protection laws that require you to take old lights back to recycle them properly...

I think you need at least the "ROHS" and the "CE" cerifications to sell something in Europe, if you don't have those, your product can be set in retention or even destroyed (in some cases) by the custom services. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CE_marking )

And we have a shit load of stupid specific reglementations from one country to another... For example, in my country (Belgium) if you want to sold anything, your product must be described in 3 differents languages on the packaging (French, Dutch and German) because those are the official languages of the country. That's just an example of one stupid little law that can block you from selling your product in my country. All of that have a price off course.

there are a lot of different laws and regulations, i only picked the 2 most rigorous ones. you need for example to be a member in an organisation that organizes the taking back of products and recycles them. over 1000eur fees each year without selling one piece of product. google "Elektro-Altgeräte-Rücknahmeverordnung" and "ElektroG" :D

Cute comment. I don't know what you've contributed to the community here, so maybe show some respect to someone who has? Believe it or not, we all have to start somewhere and whether it's in a barn, a classroom, or a basement, all that matters is that your following your passion. As far as these fixtures go, most of the parts that go into them are already certified through the companies that sell them, so as long as you don't make a bone-headed move like I once did with having two ingoing/outgoing male inlets, then these fixtures really aren't difficult to pass through any kind of protection law.

Yeah here in America, instead of recycling everything we rather make hills and mountains with our garbage. :lol:
 
Is it a big advantage to have the narrower beam angle(65°) emitters spead out over the structure vs fitting lenses or reflectors to higher powered 120° cobs?

I'm not really understanding. You can spread COB's...or you can spread single dies. Or you can pack them both tight. Beam angle is of course apart of the thought/design/layout process...but you can get <65˚ for cobs too. YOu can do just about the same things with either platform.

I though it looked like the structure of the emitter shaped the beam to 65°. I didnt know you could get a 65° beam angle cob. i assumed everyone uses lenses and reflectors because of the unwanted diffusion.

Forgive an off topic question please:

Ive read about your garden and your nutrition style. I was wondering do you experiece the petioles going from green to purple during flowering?

I grow in soil using peat, castings and minerals. in this current grow the very vibrant green petioles shifted to purple over about 1 week.

That is an upgrade since I last saw one of their lights. PSU tested one of their original fixtures. It' wasn't as complete and they didn't have a site.
They use alta chips. Spot design is always in question, but would like to see a run with enough wattage and those chips.

Huh, last I heard it was a rectangular / square reflector, which I prefer. Using a new 500w cob with all American sourced phosphor(s) /built by a Motorola subsidiary? Same as Alta....

Yet to see a decent run with the Alta fixtures.....wouldn't mind a huge cob in my "grow closet" to see what it can do=winter only of course ;-)
