Damn man that must have been nuts man i grew up in beijing which was pretty cool as well, but yeah i just miss the human touch of society where you can pretty much do things as you want but you'll be held responsible if things go bad or you step on someone else's toes. Here its like you cant do anything unless the government specifically tells you that you can rather than them letting you do what you want unless its noticeably harmful and then in that case stepping in, I mean china's a strange place and theres a lot that the government does thats sketch but despite what everyone here thinks I feel like the UK government controls people waaaaay waaaaay more than china its just its so normal here nobody realises that this amount of legislation isnt common in other places, but here they dont go for you because of your political views (which is definitely a good thing) so people think that they aren't that controlling.

fuuuuuuck no nobody gives a damn man I studied architecture so I was constantly going round taking pictures of all kinds of stuff and nobody batted an eye, I mean when I was young and there still werent many westerners there everyone stared at me like holy shit theres a white dude! The only thing in Beijing is of the private security will want to get money out of you but thats relatively uncommon and if your doing anything political/taking photos near government buildings. But here in the uk as soon as I take out my camera people have all kinds of questions and shit, its the fucking worst man people need to just watch their own shit for a minute instead of constantly trying to tell other people what they can and cant do.

Lol I duno if everyone else did but we called it Peking for a while back then but only because some other countries still called it Peking like the germans and I grew up in an international community and somehow that was just the name we used until about 15 years ago. And no its still Peking duck to foreigners but its 北京烤鸭 to my chinese homies so theres that...
