I don't recall blowing hard. I recall making logical statements which you happen to disgree with. Does Rollitup forum condone petty namecalling? Cuz if so then I'm actually very good at insult contests. You'd be surprised at the creative names I can come up with. Now, simple fact is; full sunlight only produces a certain yield and I haven't seen any cob lights yet that put out 2000 PPFD like the sun. SK comes close, if only under the middle of the light, but it is 18" away so that's still pretty impressive. The LEDs they use may not be the most efficient but they have lots of them in a small area so they do the job. I think you just have a problem with the SK company because you're an SK hater. Why? I don't know. Maybe the owner married your sister and isn't treating her right, who knows.

Any COB light can put out 2000 PPFD if you move close enough :) So much about logical statements. Don't make me find a few more :)

Suggest you quit before you are sliced and diced. You have not been logical, youve not been cogent and its doubtful you will succeed at being nasty.

If you recall i directed you to this this thread a while back with the goal of exposing you to folks knowledgeable about the mechanics of good lighting. You received a worthwhile education here yet you regress to dumbfounded cluelessness.

Take a pause to process the knowledge and make good use of the experience.

Sounds like that light is using XM-l2's. Are we positive that the SK uses XB-D's and not XM-l2's? That would change things quite a bit if they did...

Actually I found a high bay that uses xml 2s u2 bin supposedly. The price is 100 bucks more but seems to be worth it. Still the lm/w doesn't add up.

Did some more playing around with the Cree (PCT) and found some interesting results. So the XM-L2 in the higher/highest bins produces over 145 Lumens/ Watt @ 700 ma 50 degrees C. SK claims to use 200 diodes on the SK400. If they did use XM-L2's then I could see 200 of those within close proximity of each other producing some serious light density.

call me when they start putting cree XHP in deez bitches.
I completely agree. Those new chips are super badass. Apparently those can produce upwards of 160 Lumens/ Watt (higher bins) at just 200ma 50 degrees C. Cram a bunch of those together and...

Yeah but they don't. XM-L2s are about 5x more expensive than XB-Ds. Can't imagine how ridiculous the pricing would be.

Or use a COB and make it easier, cheaper and more efficient.

How were you able to determine that SK uses XB-D's? And please don't say because that's what comes on the Alibaba high bay.

COB's aren't always the cheapest option, certainly not the easiest to put together, and certainly no easier than buying a store bought product.
If efficiency is #1, lots of COB's. If ease of setting up is #1 then buy something pre made.

I'm setting up a 40 COB flower room and I can tell you personally, that drilling and tapping 160 holes, building a frame from scratch, and wiring everything so it's secure and not a hazard is no easy task. Fun. But not terribly easy. I went the economy route, not nearly as concerned with "high" efficiency, and saved probably more than 50% in initial cost as opposed to a "64%" efficient set up.
Would it have been cool? Yes. But at a price that hurt my pocket book too much.

COB's are sweet but they are not the end all in lighting.

http://getnextlight.com/nextlight/index.php?route=product/product&path=60&product_id=42 $1300 for 525w of top group/bin? WW xml2 (ul $$$ rated too) , not bad really and would crush SK's fixture(s) in every aspect...........
that actually looks like a pretty decent light, price wise beats the pants off of my illumitex.. distribution seems to be its weak point, and they may be over estimating that 525 watts can replace a 1K hps. the website didn't really say what chips they are using.

If you are are ordering in the 1000's the XM-L2's can cost between $2-$3 per chip... Maybe less if your company is endorsed by Cree...

Nick is a smart cat, but looking at the par charts it's NOT a thouie swap, no way will it cover a 4x4 for flowering MJ. He dabbled with xhp's 50/70s for the V2, didn't like them for some reason, probably too costly is my guess. Still a decent light for the money for pre-built/commercial ops(ul).

yes, it's using top group WW xml2's, no bin info given to me....

Would or does? So much speculation
#s don't lie, marketing does:)
