There is definitely a higher life force that separates us from the goddamn animals. Our conscious and higher awareness is your evidence, it's just not so convoluted, twisted and generally FUCKED up as your major religious sects have made it. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church with about 70 people present on a good Sunday and the preacher slinging the "N" word while smoking a cig before and after services "with the rest of the sinners". Couldn't wait to get away from that sad shit, but we are more than this vessel which carries our spirit, soul, whatever you want to call it.
it's also human nature to believe that, along with many other dispositions.
I find it incredibly fascinating to see the tendencies that we all have, human psychology, human sexuality, social experiments, reveal that we are all vastly different, yet tend to do the same shit.
I was raised Baptist as well, went to church three times a week, spent roughly 10-15 hrs a week there, fully aware that it was borderline brainwashing, with an extensive fascination also with science and ancient civilization, it became clear to me at a very young age that religion wasn't something that my brain could possible identify with.
NOW, that being said I totally acknowledge that in many areas religion is a beautiful thing, sadly it's the
people that fuck it up, which ironically brings be back to my first point, human nature.... Gather a group of humans together and
VERY quickly it changes and morphs into ego battles, and hidden agendas/motives.
Some of the finest people I've ever come across have been religious, conversely some of the most reprehensible people I have know, have also been religious...
BUT, one thing I find funny, the people that are the most open to whatever religion/belief/philosophy you have? Are typically Buddhist/taoist/atheist.
To me, I look at religion like this, it's like sexual preference, you like, and want, what YOU like/want. So go ahead, just DON"T force that on anyone.
And don't fuckin
JUDGE anyone. Not saying you are, saying by far, the most judgemental people I've encountered have been Christians in particular.
We could go rounds and rounds on this, and I may be alienating myself (don't really care). I just happened to be passionate about the subject... for personal reasons
The bible and Christian religion has many philosophies I cannot endorse, and I believe fully that if indeed, there was a god, he wouldn't be happy his name was drug through all that, all those lovely biblical parables.... war, genocide, hate, sexism, homophobia, racism...
I mean, would YOU be proud of those things??
I'd be a lil pissed that an evolved primate (approx. 92% chimp DNa) was talkin shit about ME, in MY name, and claiming it the gospel truth (literally)
meh...
anyways, sorry if I offended anyone (cannabis) and sorry for the rant fellas...
