These are due off at weekend but after they revegged because of a timer error. I chopped a few big tops off early as they were starting a new stretch and am leaving these smaller buds another week. Funnily enough I dropped the temps to slow any new 're-veg' growth and they have all gotten frostier? Maybe its a protection mechanism for colder weather as well as for grabbing pollen etc?
I try not to look to deep into the reasons why certain elements work the way they do, i just think if you like to experiment and it works for you then thats the way you should do things..

On that note id say you're in for a nice smoke very soon then, what strain?

A funny one because I had a really nice old tasty pheno of blueberry flo that was super strong and the smell was amazing, it was a fairly old girl and started going a bit weird. Anyway I got a Jack Herrer seed from Amsterdam 2 years ago which was a male so I pollinated my Blue and shazzam 50 seeds! Its first time growing it and breeding my own seeds, they're all pretty similar looking barr one which has a blue tinge to the buds. Its much more leafy than the straight blue was but I've had a try and its bloody good smoke, much stronger taste than the blueberry was imo, its very tasty and will be even better once its been jarrred a month! My missus says it smells of sweet potato I say its more like a warm spicey, almost reminds me of Christmas?

Try MORE dark time that light in flower and you might shock yourself with the results. And don't believe that crap that they won't grow as big... plants grow in the dark too. I put a 14" plant into a 36 hour pre flowering dark period and it was 19" coming out. 5" in 36 hours. In the dark. Dark is good in flower.
nope, sorry. plants don't grow in the dark. for a plant to grow, it must photosynthesize which requires light. the plant is actually stretching upwards because the light source is generally above the plant. it is a response mechanism because the plant thinks it is dying because of lack of light.

Theres many growers who have tried longer dark periods with success, you only have to look around the Internet to find debates between growers who have done it with success and those who dont agree but whatever the reasons it does work for some, and these arguments that its not natrual and it wouldnt happen in nature!!! i say indoor growing isnt natrual, plants dont usually see 18 hours of light, and they definitely dont see 24 hours of light yet these methods are common practice, maybe read about it abit, personally ive only ever done 12/12 with the 36 hours darkness but shortening my 12/12 by a couple of hours over weeks is something that i would try, and make a decision based on my own findings. Maybe it'll work for me maybe it wont, the only thing i do know is that im willing to try alomst anything once, you'll never know unless you try it for yourself.

nothing wrong with experimenting. i was responding to one of the posters who said his plant "grew" 5 inches in the dark. it didnt' grow, it stretched.
i do 24/0 and then 12/12. it works for me. don't fix what ain't broke.

Everything in UK is Cheese Cheese Cheese... I love it but this is a change for me and I look forward to it maturing!

I have a really nice skunk#1 plant at my pals its outdoor now and flowering but has been cloned a million times, I may get some off it and try alongside the Ugorg#1 I just received?

Well now i feel a little foolish, as someone whos done the 36 hpurs of dark with success i never thought for a second it may back fire but last night it did, originally when i first tirned the lights on my girls looked ok but as not as good as i expected but within an hour some of my older leafs began to wilt,.and im not talking droop i mean wilt as if they were dying they went extremly soft and weak.. my babys are ok now apart from a few damaged leafs but the only thing i can put it down to is the shock of been in dark for so long then suddenly bright hps lighting turning on.. yes i feel foolish for been so pro dark but its definantly a lesson learned as my girls looked great before the dark period so to me its the only reason why they took a bad turn

I always run 24/0 in veg and have ran into absolutely zero problem or issues, as a matter of fact they thrive, my plants are almost always praying. Here's a couple pics of my current grow, the first pic was taken on October 2nd the next pic was taken right before I made this post.
yep, 24/0 is the way to go. any dark time during veg is wasted time in my opinion.

exactly! lol. why the fuck did i spend all this money on grow lights? haha.

it'sjustme: your plants should recover. you might want to cut back on the nute strength for a few days as they recuperate. keep an eye out for nute burn and prepare to flush if needed.

They turn yellow where the new growth is at 36 hours, and green up within a day and take off. Draws the sex hormones up. They flower harder, show sooner. It didn't backfire. If you had no issues and healthy plants going in, it didn't backfire.

It had a cellular metabolism increase. You call it what appeals to ya.

Ya know, this shit grew before humans ever touched it.

We try to tweak it better. I never tried 36 hr. dark before getting Greenthumb seeds "endless sky". The breeder insisted one does that. You don't have to but if the guy who made it suggests it, I try it. And I liked the results. You do what you want. I continue the practice for years now. If it wasn't working, I'd quit doing it.

I used to but into that 1000%. But now, I just don't believe it. I started measuring plants when the lights went off. It can be tough with night droop, but the things gain size in the dark unless you use Bushmaster or similar hormones.

Very clever. You have a degree in botany from where? Photosynthesis through the day stores energy. It releases at night, thus plants grow at night. As far as a preflowering dark period goes, it 'jump starts' flowering... raises hormone levels.

Google do plants grow at night. Don't read the bickering cannabis sites, just read the university studies. You do believe in science, right? Or are you one of those global warming deniers? Lol.

This is a tough fucking crowd. Does Rodney Dangerfield play this room?

I know it works but on this occasion it did stress my girls, i know this for sure, but there fine now one even has it first white pistons which for me has never happened so fast, the only reason why i said i felt foolish is because i banged on about it been soooo good and then something went wrong lol it doesnt change my perception, maybe next time i go into with more caution,.after 36 hours of dark, 2 bright hps coming on at the same time could well of shocked them a little, this wasnt abit of old growth dying this was healthy old leafs wilting a dying..

Its not the end of the world as my girls have shot up these past 2 days in growth and height which is always a good sign so it cant of done them that much harm..

Surely its not common to see the white pistons 2 days into flower?? Especially after a short 4 week veg...???
