Pistols only about 35-45% ambers but trichomes are already turned dark brown. What to do?

Have any experienced growers experience this? What should I do? I can post pics of the buds but would be hard to get pictures of the trichomes

Always go by trichomes. Pistils degrading (turning brown and receding) rate in my experience varies widely from strain to strain.
Personally I like to harvest when I start to see about 10%-20% amber and usually is like 85%-90% milky and some clear here and their.

Yeah a pic will help, personally I prefer my pistols to recede almost completely into the calyces. In my experience it increases yield and potency. I know everybody preaches about trichome color, but in my opinion you can look at it and tell when it's ready without looking through a scope.

Phew! Saved by DR! Check trichomes on the bud only since the flowers replace them on a daily basis! Be patient, they will swell up when they are getting near. First thing to look for is mostly cloudy/milky then look for your amber ratio if thats what your going for, if your going to store the bud for a long time, keep in mind delta-9 will degrade into cbd over time giving you an even more boring, stuck and sleepy high imo not recommend unless you suffer from extreme anxiety or add/adhd ect.(i have adhd 15% amber is more then enough to sit me down) The speed at which thc degrades depends on how and where you store the containor as light and oxygen will degrade thc into cbd quicker.

Could you clarify this, please?
Not really since strain and environment have alot to do with it, but in general, sugar leaves will be more mature because as they grow you will have less thca trichome production on the outside of the sugar leaf, the early amber trichomes from sugar leaves is caused from the first wave of trichomes as the sugar leaf is half way stuck in the bud site when young which is already producing thc-a at the time. Im sure strain and enviro have gobs to do with it.

Ah. Ok cool. You mentioned the flowers replace them daily. You meant sugar leaves replace them methinks.

I guess I never took a scope to a sugar leaf - just that fat calyx. That's really interesting though. Makes perfect sense. Thanks

Take a scope to the sugar leafs, most of the time the outside is more mature then the inner side of the leaf by mid flower. Ever notice how you cannot have a ripe 100% cloudy bud?

When people shoot for 85% vs 75% Amber, are they counting out 100 trichomes and counting how many are Amber? Cmon man.
