Welcome this is my first attempt at dwc I have just finished a coco grow and wanted to try a different way so I picked Dwc, I looked into buying a already built one (yeah they're cheap ) but you can't beat making your own. So that's what I did I went off down to the hydro shop got myself a net pot, 5 gallon bucket ( with lid ), clay pebbles and some air line, I already had a air stone and air pump from back in the day of keeping tropical fish.
As soon as I got home I wanted to get going so I got my drill out the shed marked up the lid with the net pot and started to drill the million little holes (so I didn't split the plastic) I do have a hole cutter but I was so excited to get going I couldn't be arsed to go look for it in my void I call a shed!. Then I drilled another single hole away from the hole for the net pot for my air line and that was it done! As far as making a bucket that is, I fished out my air pump and air stone I used the golf ball shape stone as i think it produces more bubbles than a flat stone (IMO) hooked up the pump plugged it in added ph'd water to 6.0 all I needed next was the plant and the pebbles.
Me being me I already had the weedling in a separate pot in coco coir from the grow before (not used), it had broken ground and produced its first true (serrated) leaves it was in the pot for around 6 days prior to this point, so I transplanted the little weedling into the net pot with a little bit of coco still around the weedling topped up with pebbles and boom! I was there I was finished!!
The first few days were slow going, the weedling didn't seem to have much growth going on, on top. All was good I knew my little weedling was growing roots and those roots needed to find the edge of the pot before it starts kicking leaves out above ground,
Now (today) 7 days gone being in the net pot I went up to my tent unzipped it opened the door and there it was it had started kicking out more leaves, I was like "WOW That was quick" it's already on 3 bladed fan leaves (alot quicker than coco).
I will be posting with pictures as it gets a bit bigger here's a few pictures of my progress so far.
