Is my 5 day auto gonna die?

I bought a seed from single seed centre and got my seeds no problem, and along with that came a free auto diesel-matic by black skull seeds. The paper towel method on the free auto seed cracked the shell and I planted it on day 3. It's now day 6 and it doesn't look to well. Should the top look so brown, dry, and shriveled? Along the stem close to the top is also colored dark purple idk if that matters. No chemicals added and it's pure soil. The soil is damp but not soaked. Thank you

The soil should be moist not damp or soaked, also u should add some perlite to your soil for drainage, sorry to say it this way but that soil looks horrible. I think she's a warrior just for popping out of that soil, u should make another soil mix and get her out of that soil asap. GL

pull off the cotyledons

don't follow this advice, you could kill the seedling, done it before

Yes Its about 80% dirt from my yard and 20% bought soil that had a tiny bit of perlite in it. There is many drainage holes drilled in the can (yes a mountain dew can ) but I will not water it until the top layer dries then only add a little. Thank's for all the advice I'll update In a couple days:eyesmoke:

yes, its very tempting to pull it off, 90% the time you will be ok but if you pull the leaves off with it, the seedling dies !!
Not all ways, I pulled the skin off one of my seedlings the other day and ripped one of the leaves off and it boosting along. Although I do have them under a cfl 24/7.

Am I making major mistakes? There's a couple negative comments but they didn't provide any solutions. I appreciate any help that can be given. No the shell already fell off but I'm not sure about the cotyledons though

You're probably going to have to start over. Dense, outdoor dirt doesn't usually work. Just use a bagged potting mix like Black Gold Natural & Organic or MiracleGro Organic Choice, add about 30% perlite. The soil I use is described here.

If you can afford my soil components, all you need to start is a $6 box of MiracleGro Tomato. I'm growing in that soil with that nutrient right now. Seems to be doing well. If you have a little more money ($20) you can buy the base nutrients I use in the prior link. But, this MG grow should work for you.

How long did you spend studying how to grow? Best thing to do is pick an existing method/style and follow it. Something simple (like MG Organic Choice and that Tomato fertilizer). You don't need boutique "lineups." But, you do need something better than that dirt.

Pick something and start a grow journal inviting people to watch and help. But, get some feedback before you start (so you can avoid this.).
