Here a picture of 3 chips to compare: citizen clu046-1818 (4k ra80), clu046-1812 (5k ra80) and cree cxa 3070 (4k ra80). See how led density varies ? So far, the clu046 -1818 is the best chip I've had.
Bonjour
They look like they could fit on the same holder...are they?

Yes. Cree LES is 23mm and Citizen 22mm. So if you use the cree clip, it will hold. Citizen holders are smaller, as they accommodate the 2 holes on the cob, and will not fit cree.

the only other brand I know for a fact that ive seen and i don't know if its out yet is Phillips cobs.. all the other brands seem like cheap Chinese stuff.. just with another brands sticker. sharp i have no idea what they're up to.. but sometimes they just re brand other peoples stuff.. so it depends
Looks like the Lumiled line is still gonna be around, just not sold under "Phillips" anymore.
It looks like Philips does have cobs!

I asked for pricing on 4 of the Luna 300 in 4000k 70cri. I also invited them to this site to get and give there insight on our style of light builds. I also asked for a lumen output at different watts down to 200 watts. I sometimes work near their office, so I will see if I can just pick them up. I just like the thought of a true watt for watt HPS killer, with only 4 chips.
Amy progress on this front, as yet?

Been trying to find a good passive heat sink. I will be ordering 3 Mechatronix heatsinks ( that's all they have) tonight and I hope to have some plants under it before January. I will also be getting 4 Citizen's new CLU550, 2 4000K 70 cri and 2 3000K 70 cri. I am getting these for $35 each:bigjoint:. I guess I might be able to do a head to head.

I emailed them for some samples to test for indoor growing and they offered me 4 @ $35 each. The price at CDIWeb are about $100 each.
THe best 4k's I saw the 056....17 ALG's @ 156 lumens/ watt, were only $46 I believe, where did you get the $100 from? Just curious :peace:

They also seem to be the only American distributor i can find, although I need to hit up Chip Finder....

Completely different COB. These are the new CLU550 that can handle over 500 watts. The 3000k 70 cri is 139 l/w @ 240 watts. I may have called them. I have called and emailed a lot companies about parts in the last 2 months. I should be getting my mechatronix cool-bay tera-a in 2 days.
