Gold based currency is a joke always has been
Btw Rob Paul lost. Get over it
Who`s Rob Paul and why were his parents dumb enough to give him two first names ??

Spending someone eleses money is always better than spending your own, you get bigger debts that way. How much are we in now ?

Oh I'm over it! I could give a shit really......Me and mine can survive out here just fine. It'll be ya'all city folks ride'n wagons out to "pay" my price for food and drink (smoke too) when the big crash comes in....
It works like this......you get so in debt borrowing to pay your bills that you never notice that the guy your borrowing from now owns your ASS.....

How much have we "borrowed" from China ??? What happens if they come knocking for their money and we can't pay up?
Because we have nothing to pay with!!!

Hell, at least Russia is kick back payed by DeBeers to not sell their diamonds on the open market! Russia still bases their currency in diamonds....

I never liked Ron Paul......I don't listen to him either...
It works like this if gold falls 15% over night so does the value of your currency.
The fluctuations will cripple your economy making your money even more worthless

Yeah Ron Paul loves gold
2/3rds of his investments are tied up in it.
Guess who is losing his ass right now?

I thought it was the stronger the economy the lower price of gold and precious metal. The weaker the economy the higher.

Most of you prolly weren't even born when Reagan was in office.
Those were good times. Great economy and small businesses were booming.
Lots of money floating around.
The only thing I didn't like about him was his "Just Say No" to drugs program.
That dried up a lot of pot and coke in my neighborhood.
What universe was this in?

Riiiight, those were good times.

The recession of '82 was a real bitch! The company I worked for laid off half of their employees, and the other half that was allowed to continue working got a 5% pay cut.

That was just the beginning of Ronnie Raygun's 8 years, it got worse for many people after that.

We've suffered through the last 4 Republican administrations, and idiots are still voting for them.

Well Buck, you know me.
I'm a rich, white, fat, racist republican that hates everything.

The early Reagan years were horrible...I worked 4 weeks in 1982...half a year in '81 and '83...

If somebody thinks those were good years...maybe they have a bad memory...

Ronald Reagan was at his best on Death Valley Days...shilling for Boraxo...I liked his cowboy movies, not his politics.

I don't hear you crying about Japan owning nearly as much debt.
And if China wants to crash their economy let them come for their debt.

I think of Pat Nixon as being a nice lady. Nancy Reagan? Evil bitch.

Remember when the teenage girl narced out her parents to Nancy, live on camera?
Then it was national news a month later that the girl's life had been "disrupted". More like ruptured.

I think he did.

I was thinking about how long the American dream has been dead and it has been dead for quite a while You know the dream where only one spouse needs to work to pay the mortgage etc.

Thinking people have confused what the American Dream used to be with their current fabrications of entitlement.

How many people 50 years ago on one income paid the mortgage on over built homes, driving cars that are worth more than their entire paychecks for a year accumulate to, among all the other "dream" items people just can't seem to leave the fuck alone these days? Guessing more people lived within their means, hence why dreams were coming true for many more at the time.

Put blame where it is due. If you aren't living the dream, its your own damn fault.

The Dream started after WWII and lasted until around Reagan. It was built around 2 parents, 1 would work and the other would take care of the household. The working parent made enough money to buy a modest home, one or two modest cars and maybe take a week or two vacation a year.

The middle class was the largest group of citizens by far and the Dream was available to almost all of the people in the middle class.

I do agree that most people today spend way too much of their hard earned pay on bullshit

After brief visits to Hangchow and Shanghai, where the final communiqué was announced, the presidential party returned to Washington on February 28. Any initial press and Congressional criticism of the Shanghai Communique’s "sellout" of Taiwan was soon lost in the afterglow of the historic event. Wrote Kissinger in his memoirs, "For once a White House public relations strategy succeeded, and performed a diplomatic function as well. Pictures overrode the printed word; the public simply was not interested in the complex analyses of the document after having watched the spectacle of an American President welcomed in the capital of an erstwhile enemy."

Ronald set the standard for "time-share" salesmen. comrade.

Fuck that noise. When I graduated from high school, I could have gotten a local job from 4 different steel mills, 2 foundries, 3 different coal mines, 2 rail road companies, a half dozen local construction companies, a toilet bowl fixture company, a distillery, and there were other places that paid less as well...

3 of the 4 steel mills are now shut down, the toilet fixture place relocated to China, both foundries out of business, the distillery moved out of state, the RR companies were bought out, etc.

The fucking opportunities have dried up, many are over seas, in other states, out of business, etc,

Before you call it 'their own damn fault', shouldn't they have a good job opportunity that they lazily reject?

That toilet bowl company sounded pretty good to me, too bad they left for over seas.

It's a well known fact that Obama has given in to the Green nazis and thru his policies shut down plants like coal, founderies, etc. Can't speak for the distillery. Sounds like their business model sucked. Locally many a distillery, brewery, and dozens of wineries are coming on board monthly and making big bucks off day trippers and nationwide tourism. One new local bourbon distillery sells a bottle of whiskey for $89....and people are buying.

If you got what it takes, start your own business.

Lol. Some asshole corporation bought them...THEN...hair folicle drug tested everyone and fired 65% on the spot. THEN used the one third left to on-the-job train Chinese guys who came over, THEN shut down American operations 6 months later.

True story...I have no doubts it repeats like a stuck needle on a scratched LP record.

Opportunities are necessary. Starting businesses is not an opportunity for job market entrance...unless you have accumulated cash...

Businesses go under every day. You have to compete with WalMart's slave labor AND barrow money to do it.
