Absolutely. That was my main beef, no accountability. Here in Il, there is no provision for a mom to account for how she spends your money. A couple years ago when my ex was going through some horrible mid-life crisis, she went out drinking and partying almost every night. As a result, she had no money left for food for my kid, or clothes. I was taking him to the grocery store just to buy FOOD and I had to buy all his clothes. None of my CS was going toward him, save for the mortgage payment so he could live there. I reported this to DCFS, and they said there's really nothing they can do. It's very hard to prove neglect. If the courts REALLY cared about the kids, they'd make the mom keep a ledger and receipts to prove how they spend the CS. Is that really asking too much? I'm getting angry all over again...

You're referring to DCFS work? I agree. But if it were simply law that every party receiving CS needs to keep an account of how they spend it, that wouldn't cost anything. If it turns out said party is not keeping an accurate account, or is misallocating the CS funds, then the court should lower the payments accordingly. Just an incentive to benefit the kids with virtually no time or money taken from public funds...
She moved to a different province to care for her mom. I am in legal trouble and until that is done I cannot relocate. I did see her last week briefly, we phone each other and her sister lives close to me.
