Best led for 3x3 tent, help

Wattage will be variable but it's been demonstrated that 1500 PPFD is the maximum light intensity the plants can deal with before growth rates begin to decline. Even with COBs there will be some intensity variance across the canopy so keeping things under 1300 PPFD is a good idea.

6 CXB 3590s at 2.1 amps would provide 1350 PPFD in a 3x3, would be 453 watts dissipated, 231 PAR watts.

6 at 1.75 amps would provide 1145 PPFD (375 watts 200 PAR watts)

8 at 1.4 amps, 1285 PPFD, 398 watts, 223 PAR watts

10 at 1.05 amps, 1230 PPFD, 355 watts, 213 PAR watts

16 at .7 amps, 1360 PPFD, 368 watts, 235 Par watts

I'm thinking any of those 3 middle options would be really intense without being too crazy about it.
Anyone considering any other lamp needs to check their numbers up against this data. If it doesn't come close, there is no reason, other than budget constraints, to invest in any other tech.

all im going to say is this...i make music and one thing ive noticed over the years in the industry is some people always have to have the newest and "best" gear no matter what. theres literally a whole market for digital music creation that mimics the feel of muffled classic rock and hiphop. what does that tell us? people kept looking to build a better mouse trap even when it wasnt completely necessary. my point is mars leds are arguably the best value overall. a lot of you guys have strong opinions towards anyones love for lights that arent the ones you think are the best but in the end its about results. results tell the story. i know people who grow with mars lights and so do i. they arent the best but the certainly get the job done and probably are the best bang for your buck. all the differences in the little details matter sure but if i get a solid harvest, frosty dense nugs that smell great why would i think i need "better" lights? the guy said he has a fairly small tent and is obviously not trying to break the bank. so recommend something that fits his needs instead of having a dude bro my dick is bigger contest

mars works just fine...the guy has a 3x3 tent not a full blown commercial grow...get a mars panel or two and you will see great results

LEARNING IS CHANGING.

@fatneal "but the certainly get the job done and probably are the best bang foryour buck" they arent. How the fuck do you make that statementwith zero experience? This type of bullshit is 'par' for the course when the boon doogled try to defend their beginners mistakes.

"mars works just fine...the guy has a 3x3 tent not a full blown commercial grow...get a mars panel or two and you will see great results" you are a clueless lout.

The " original mouse trap" is the sun not a shitty imported light. Even your analogies read like they fell out of your ass.

"Its a lot of salesmen in here" lol as you lamely market a known piece of shit.

Then make a case other than "my mars works just fine". That's all Mars users ever bring to the table. Do you know the emitter part number/s used in your lamp? Radiometric efficiency? Lumens even? Done side by sides? Opinion is not enough. My HPS works just fine. My CFL works just fine. My incandescent works just fine. They all grow plants just fine. Just fine is not a good metric :P

I am new sheep and I would say listen to the gurus of RIU.

Rahz and Realstyles definitely know what they're talking about.

hey rd how much space do you allow between v29 and canopy?
flower buds look great bro.
Thanks testiclees!

Average around the canopy was about 24" I would say. The larger cola in the back was probably about 4-6" closer. That being said, I was using 4 chips driven at about 1.9 amps each (75w per) so I am sure I had some major hotspots. most of the plants would have probably benefited from the lights being pulled up a few inches.

Really astonished by the results, I kept telling myself if I could hit anywhere near a g/w I would be ecstatic. I am pretty confident now with some good genetics, a living soil, and a slightly more efficient light I could pull a pound+ from this 3x3.

Working on amending some soil, and getting some foliar regiments/IPM in mind. :weed:

hilarious....narcissistic sophomoric consumerism at its finest...results dont lie...if growing with lights that you dont like means i leave a few grams on the table so what...its not worth it...i get good enough results as is....none of you are wrong for how you choose to grow and neither am i...results is all that matters

hilarious...i get decent results man...i run a bunch of 3x3 tents with 2 300w old model mars panels in each and get no less than half a pound per harvest....depends on the strain but still....its not the best results but its good...when you consider 2 panels are $130 shipped the production for the price is worth it....being an obnoxious smart alec does nothing for the community bro...if you grow differently thats cool more power to you but that doesnt mean talk trash about other methods that work....anyway happy growing to you in 2016
