So hydrogrow has a bad name but people change hopefully for the better.
Scammie McKenzie never changes. Even after the episode you were referred to, she was on this forum
pretending to be someone else, bashing a Chinese light maker. She was on ICMAG offering a free light. That "offer" kept arising for a year. It appeared to be advertising more than a real "challenge." The resulting grow wasn't anything special, and her sponsorship dwindled into silence.
She has a reputation for "grassing out" customers who complain. (This goes back to when she sold high-performance car modification, when she was a he. The rational is that she chooses dark markets where customers can be threatened with the law.).
The last time I looked, HydroGrowLED's web site intentionally misled customers to believe Osram chips are being used (they're not. It's epi-whatever chips. Unless something has changed in the past year.).
There are so many good LED lights like Area51, Tasty, Johnson, Growgreenled. People using diodes and COBs backed by datasheets, publishing the exact part numbers used. Why reward people like HydroGrowLED who play upon hype (while promoting obscurity)?
If it were a money-saving thing, I could understand. But, those re-branded epi-whatever lights are as expensive as the best lights out there.
