Debating on LED or HPS

No price as of Yet but most likely since it is 1' more then that NolSol NS about 300 more bucks I say around 1600 - 1800.
Dont worry there will be a grow soon. I am Sold on it and that is the next Move for me.
Yeah too high for my taste;-) ........shame they're not continuing a smaller option like the neosol 50?

Good to hear about you doing a grow, we all have been waiting awhile for any illumitex grow.....

Me and you both in line brother. I know what the 300 can do. I love passive cooling. Simple oscillating fan moves all heat needed. No dust on my leds fack dat. But more importantly I've seen weight. We all know that's what we care about. Any skilled grower is going to get quality imho.

Right now I have a 740 watt LED vs a t5 vho 8 lamp fixture battle going on. The LED is losing, and the t5 VHO is a better fixture in my opinion.. Not too deep, so you can pull it way up if you have to, not too hot so you can lower it right down on the canopy and the spread is fantastic. Have grown 8 plants under the 2'x4 8 lamp fixture, and I would be pushing it to do 4 under the 1'x3' 740 watt LED. If heat is an issue, go t5.
Is the t5 cooler running than the LED you have? I flower with a 4ft 8 bulb t5 too but its alittle hot for my space. Keeps temps around 88-89. Can get a blackdog xlu 750 platinum for a good price. Will it make less heat? Thanks.

So hydrogrow has a bad name but people change hopefully for the better.
Scammie McKenzie never changes. Even after the episode you were referred to, she was on this forum pretending to be someone else, bashing a Chinese light maker. She was on ICMAG offering a free light. That "offer" kept arising for a year. It appeared to be advertising more than a real "challenge." The resulting grow wasn't anything special, and her sponsorship dwindled into silence.

She has a reputation for "grassing out" customers who complain. (This goes back to when she sold high-performance car modification, when she was a he. The rational is that she chooses dark markets where customers can be threatened with the law.).

The last time I looked, HydroGrowLED's web site intentionally misled customers to believe Osram chips are being used (they're not. It's epi-whatever chips. Unless something has changed in the past year.).

There are so many good LED lights like Area51, Tasty, Johnson, Growgreenled. People using diodes and COBs backed by datasheets, publishing the exact part numbers used. Why reward people like HydroGrowLED who play upon hype (while promoting obscurity)?

If it were a money-saving thing, I could understand. But, those re-branded epi-whatever lights are as expensive as the best lights out there.

This thread is 3years old lol
Yeah, I just finished reading it and thinking about how far the industry has come in the last couple of years. Dec '13 - Dec '15 is only two, last I counted. Maybe you got the new math?

I remember reading some of LEDgirl's posts, I've seen the Illumitex lights up close, saw the Black Dog led come and go, saw the Mars Hydro thread here on RIU. I had and ran an Xtreme LED 200, I was very disappointed.

Now for the good news; I've seen scads of grows with CXB3590 chips and they all look fantastic.

I'm convinced enough to throw down some very serious coin for a large LED array to go head to head vs high wattage HID setups. I should get my custom built modules this weekend, and the new year will see some very interesting comparisons.

You could DIY your self LED lights for $1 a watt; measured by how much they are pulling from the wall, at between 40-50% efficiency.

Lol stoner math. Didn't look at the Dec part. It is pretty wild. Went from barely able to flower to surpassing hid in TWO years lol

To be fair, it did require a completely different kind of LED chip, but the world has been waiting for a better light for a long time. The pent up demand is definitely there.

Now it's up to us 'applications specialists' to find the best methods for getting the most out of them.

Watch my threads this new year, you think you've seen innovation? Just you wait and see!

I'm paying a bit under $2/W and getting over 56% efficiency. I felt the bump in efficiency was worth the extra investment, and here's where my reasoning begs to differ from that of others;

You see, when the price of the product is several dollars per gram even at wholesale, no one gives a flying fuck how much the power bill is. Therefore, chasing a lower power bill is a fool's errand that can end up costing yield- the worst possible outcome. But what if higher efficiency could instead be used to increase production density, measured in units like kg/m^2 of space? Now THAT'S a goal worth spending some serious coin for!

If I were a betting man I would say some type of play on a cool tube but with cobs as the outer ring with heatsinks on the inside with a fan that cools all heatsinks. Pretty simple yet effective

I have yet to see 2 pound harvests per led light... I would lean much more twords 1000 watter...

I got 4 magnum xxxl 1k's .. I love em and their huge footprint but this led lite I traded my buddy a QP for produces denser bud. Plants just like em better. Im going to build a dozen lights and sell all my HPS n

What led light might that be?

I'm not a fan of hydrogrow led. The top led panels are area 51 , Hans, and apache tech. Area 51 is the best deal for the money
they all use far better quality led's than hydrogrow led. For those its about 600 -660 watts to match 1000 watt hps on yield. Led will far surpass hps in quality. So 4 A51 panels or 1 apache at 660.

inda gro induction are great too. That's what I use. 3 inda gro 420's will match 2 1000 watt hps. Inda gro have a 10 year warranty and Area 51 has a lifetime warranty. Apache and hans have a 3 year warranty.

vert bare bulb. CMH would be better than hps. Philips allstart 330 and 860 are the best and highest par rating
What are your thoughts on the Spydr600 LED??

I gave away that 740 LED and got a 360w Platinum for $350 on Amazon and it is a killer fixture. That I can guarantee. As far as heat goes, the t5's probably produce a lot more heat, as far as a 4 lite t5 vs a 360w LED. I am in the process of getting rid of all my t5 fixtures, and for a dual purpose fixture (gro/bloom) So, for a short reply (it's New Years Eve, and I'm fkd already) dump the t5 and go led for the new year. It's a safe bet

I've been using HPS and MH for a while now but I'm really debating on whether I should try LED...

I use a 400w MH for veg and a 600w HPS for flower. I've reallybeen looking into the Hydrogrow LED SOL series to replace both and no longer have to change light types and also reduce heat. The price of the LED is not an issue I just would like to know if they will produce good results.

I know the cheaper LED companies are BS but all the research I've done Hydrogrows lights are right at the top with the other main companies.

I'll either step up to 1000w MH and HPS or try the 900w LED SOL series.

Any input would be helpful...

NO LED HATERS JUST KNOWLEDGE PLEASE...
if i got one it woukd be the black dog led and its like 1800 a light
