This needs to be financed by the Government and not by patients this time. If self labelled charities or a coalition asks for money for a cause and it's used for trips. hotels and fun days, I expect my government to use it's police force, CRA and the courts to look into that.
Is that not what is supposed to happen ?
Can the cancer society throw beer parties or whatever with the funds they solicite ?

In my opinion when your asking folks to chip in on a cause then your obligation should be to use that money only when necessary and on the actual cause.
And be honest and show how it was spent. Or stashed

No actually redi jedi you are incorrect...this is called misappropriation and misallocation of funds and not a matter of my opinion...for example if I sent you to the store for a quart of milk, you must purchase milk and not a gallon of ice cream or it is deemed to be a breach of duty...this is fundamental and is a moot point so please do not display your ignorance with respect to 'business law' in the future because you shall be misleading a lot of folks if you stand uncorrected in the future.

Teaching Moment: Fund raising for the purpose of fund raising is called 'core funding' and is consider to be a separate entity apart from fund raising for a cause. Core funding is usually obtained once an organization has established a good track record and has a Revenue Canada charitable organization designation and has received 'official recognition' from government and receives departmental funds for the ongoing administrative support or else receives funds for the ongoing administrative support from agencies designed specifically to fund raise for fund raisers such as the United Way.

Ok, but is the coalition actually a charitable organization? What ever it may be called on paper, its not a charity. I cant claim my donation at tax time...

Redi Jedi, this is supposed to be as serious forum and not a chat room for idle chatter and senseless comments...patient's scarce money and lives are at stake here and they have been seriously misled in the past and continue to be by a man that wears so many hats he is starting to look like the 'court fool'....Redi Jedi if you wished to fly and get the milk it is up to you but if the agreement that funds were for you to get milk by vehicle then of course the contractor should pay for the car fare and the milk but it would be implied that they meant you to walk to the store unless otherwise indicated.. Redi Jedi why don't you Google the term 'business law' and browse around for a while before you make a comment next time because it is embarrassing and time-wasting replying to your idle remarks.
