the yin yang is awesome. Would totally buy a bunch if the spectrum was red and white.Here's a better studio pic;
A square COB won't satisfy the corners like a square French meal, I'm afraid. You're much better off pursuing your current strategy of simply spreading smaller COBs apart to get the desired even distribution pattern.
I am very much a functionality performance type of guy... But I have to agree that ying yang design is fricking coolDuet 60 @ 100 watts @ 100 watts heatsink
FYI - This is a non standard product just to test our Duet chips.
Showing that chip is a major tease! So when will a regular mortal get to buy one?Here's a better studio pic;
FUCK YEAH BRAHI see it this way, if you have a 400hp Cadillac, that can go 155mph, should you go that fast all the time?
LOLFUCK YEAH BRAH
It's already for sale, but at limited quantities. We're just waiting for our PPFD numbers from our lab, then we'll put our lights online.Showing that chip is a major tease! So when will a regular mortal get to buy one?
Hi Corso312,What's the footprint for this? 20" x 20" ?
I only have one led light and I've never built one but this looks like it would be intense light in a very small area.. Its a cool lookin light and the parts look good, just don't look ideal for growing in my novice opinion.
I respect that you are double checking your numbers before you publish them (this RIU can be a pretty tough crowd if you don't have your poop in a group!). So what is the MSRP on the Duet 60?It's already for sale, but at limited quantities. We're just waiting for our PPFD numbers from our lab, then we'll put our lights online.
Hi tstick,This is getting good!
I'd recommend you try and keep the cost of the Duet 100 under $250, though...because you've already got people making modular fixtures that are tested and proven (Kessel, A51, etc.) for less than that. Get it down to $175-$200 and you'll sell a ton of them. That yin-yang thing is about the coolest thing ever!
I don't think the super-long warranty is all that much of a selling point -because, as we all can realize, it's really just a matter of a few years before today's technology becomes outmoded by "the next big thing"... I think people realize that, now...so extended warranties are irrelevant...in my opinion, of course!
I like the idea of the Duet cobs..... a lot, but I think you should hit the market aggressively and priced lower than the other, modular-based-design competitors.
Cary Mitchell knows his shit. Former IN man now Pure MIMost probably ,it will do .
People ,seem to forget ,that aside from the photosynthetic value of 660 nm red ,
it has a great photomorphogenic and a very profound circadian effect too .
Supplying the whole 600-700 nm red band ,
is way better than any combo of monochromatic red leds...
Let alone from just a single type ...
(...)The most staple waveband of light that anchors SSL LED arrays for plant growth is red.
Broad-band red (600-700nm) light has, by far, the highest quantum
efficiency for driving photosynthesis, with a broad peak from about 620 to 660 nm
(11). As well, red has numerous photomorphogenic effects on plant development
mediated by the photoreversible pigment phytochrome.In general, red light
promotes stem elongation, leaf expansion, biomass accumulation, and contributes to
a phytochrome photostationary state (PPS) that can determine flowering, dormancy,
and other important photomorphogenic responses of plants, including seed germination.(...)
