Day 60 of 12 12 lighting, I wasnt going to post any pictures, but since you nice people asked ,
enjoy

As a side note, 1.5 weeks ago i trimmed out a bunch of leafs and some lower popcorn buds to lessen the chance of the powdery mildew returning ( and it was returning!! stuff is almost as pesky as insects,, grRRR),, I must say those home made sprays that are a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide worked wonders, and that is what got me to harvest,,
BUT, after drying those popcorn buds for 1 week in paper sacks I smoked some yesterday, well i have tested all three strains now and WOW the early harvested bud is fantastic, the Gorilla Glue and the Bruce banner really pack a punch, the bruce banner is strongest of the bunch, the J1 Sativa is amazing , The jack herer really shines thru,
the web sites give the Bruce banner and the gorilla glue a 56 - 60 day harvest so i am right in the zone using those time tables, and by using the pre test popcorn bud as any guage this stuff is going to really have me set up with some fantastic smoke
Lastly, I did a Rinse of the plants , I chopped them down whole, and trimmed off the remaining fan leafs and DUNKED them in a bath of hydrogen peroxcide and water , what this does is cleans the buds , it kills any remaining powder mildew and other things, google it sometime, harmless really to the buds , but insures a clean bud for drying and curing,

This was a 100 PERCENT WATER ONLY GROW!!!! i used Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil with Happy Frog organic nutes ( a dry nute you mix in the soil , organic) , I mixed in some lyme for ph buffer and cal mag naturally.
then just TAP WATER!!! thats it,, got on a regular cycle of just water every 3 days,, the ph of my water out of the faucet is 6.4 ph, just about perfect for soil growing

Damn, looking great Tim! Those are some juicy looking buds. What do you think the final weight will be?

May I ask what the situation with your pistols were? Was it mostly amber pistols with a 50/50 mix of white ones?

My buds still have a lot of white pistols even though they are the same age as yours, so I don't know if I should chop yet. Biohazard seeds sets the flowering zone for 55/65 days, so that's were I'm at.

I harvested based on 5 factors this grow
1. time the web sites listed 2 of my strains as 56 - 60 days,,, and I was at 60 days
2. Powdery mildew, on my two previous grows i had to deal with spider mites,,but not on this grow, this grow I had to deal with powdery mildew, and just like the mites on previous grows the stuff kept returning, and I had to keep spraying, the spray worked, but I knew it was a matter of time until the powder mildew returned
3. how it smoked, I pulled some lower buds at 6.5 weeks and the stuff smokes outstanding, so i knew the buds that went 8.5 weeks would be rockin,
4. I used my loupe but my old eyes just cant seem to "see" what i wish i could thru the magnification, so i harvested based on the above factors
5. the red hairs on bruce banner were getting very dark, bruce banner and gorilla glue have a short flower time

Thanks Tim.

I'm also at 60 days sharp, and while the smell is very strong, the hairs seem to be 30-40%% dark with lots of white ones sticking out... so I don't know what I should do. The nugs have really fattened up lately and have stopped doing so for the past week... that could be a factor. I try to get a glimpse at the trichomes, but I honestly say that I'm still too inexperienced to distinguish clear from cloudy. I THINK I saw a few amber trichomes and generally speaking my heart keeps telling me that there are cloudy ones.

I'll probably chop today.

I want to point out, that I knew a few guys who have lost whole crops to powdery mildew,,, and also to the old spider mites, it would suck to go the whole 3 plus months and lose everything,, So I am very Thankful to @Humanrob for showing me what the powdery mildew looked like early on and I did not have to hunt down answers, I am also thankful that the simple home made spray of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide works so freakin well, it knocked back the PM each and every time and did not hurt or burn the buds, the peroxcide bath was neccasary according to everyone who has dealt with powdery mildew as it wipes your buds clean of it, and you save your crop, and i must say the buds look sharp,,
Ill post a picture of them hanging in the box in a little while when the sun comes up

Edit: I watched a great video on h202 bath and in his video you can see the PM coming off of his plants, but he had it much worse than I did , as I kept mine in check along the way, but in the video you can see stuff rise to the surface of the bath water, and on my plants i saw very little, so that was a good sign ,
I also thought about going longer but I am out of town next week end, and by next week end I will have the buds either in paper sacks or jars

Grow box this morning,, hang em high,
appears to be more bud hanging than last time,
ill get a weight before they go into jars , should be about a week or so , the temps are cool around here, they will need to hang a bit longer than normal

Hey Tim, nice results with a simple water-only grow. What is the total draw of your COB LED light? Do you find that wattage sufficient for your size cabinet and is that the only light you are running? What is the color temp of the COBs?

The humidity of your cabinet looked pretty low (37%) for mold to occur, what do you think caused it? I have had powdery mold occur outside from too much moisture, and overcrowding that reduced air circulation. Once I got it if any dead leaves or anything lying around dont get taken out it would keep coming back.

208 watts, yes plenty of light power for the space, yes it's the only light used after jthey were transplanted, early on Idid use some CFLs,, 3000k color temp,
The powdery mildew mayhave come in with the clonesclones, correcting measures kept the powdery mildew away and the harvest was good,
Nice to meet you

Thanks for the feedback TIm and also thanks for describing your homemade spray solution to mitigate the powdery mildew. Always good know what actually works ahead of time! The clones already having the mildew makes perfect sense, just like with clones and spider mites.

I like your light, what do you think your 208W COB LED is comparable to in HPS? For example, have you run a 250W or 400W HPS in that cabinet before with better or worse results?

Thanks and nice to meet you also.

the spray i made was was baking soda and hydrogen peroxcide and water, and yes it worked fantastic,,
I used to grow with a 400watt metal halide bulb years ago, and this 208 watt led light does not match the harvest weights of the bulb,, but it is half the power, the buds are just as good, no differance there, Plus I did have a larger box with the 400 watter and I was in flood drain hydroponics back then, and both of those make differances
I am very happy to be in soil and growing under these cob leds,, very simple, low work load, plus I dont have to replace bulbs every crop and I get a much lower electric bill, win win
but it all comes down to personal preferances
