YOUR rookie mistakes..

let's face it..starting out, we all made mistakes, and sometimes we still do. I feel that through all I've read, and all I've learned, experience is, and always will be my best teacher. There's nothing wrong with mistakes, as long as you learn from them. That being said, what are some of the most important things you've learned along the way?, or just general advice to pass on to eachother.. I've learned to keep my nodes as tight as you possibly can, cause i grew a 3' tall plant that took up space and light, and didn't yield shit cause I let it get lanky. I learned to not re-use soil, and i learned that I have a fire inspector that checks my place every October! haha

Don't use superthrive in your rock wool soak if you are germing into rock wool cubes, not sure if it was the superthrive, but I had 3 beans turn to slime instead of sprouting, May have been something else I did wrong, but it hasn't happened since

HAVE PATIENCE AND KEEP IT SIMPLE>>> rely on your instinct/intuition. As humans, we've been farming for thousands of years.. Since the cradle of civilization. This stuff is in our DNA. We breath their air, they breath ours...its a symbiotic relationship and everyone should be taking part in some form or another. ( veggies/herbs/flowers etc)

I just snapped my main stem on a 3wkish old plant while trying to LST for the first time. My second plant LST didn't get snapped as I learned my lesson in bending from the first.

My advice, even if you make a mistake, or two, you'll come out way more knowledgeable from it, then if you hadn't made it.

I just made this my signature because i find it so on point. This is from the Azomite website. I like the best smoke so I do 100% organic; lifeless chemicals don't give my plants what they are looking for. Lets not get into that discussion now.. Although I highly suggest doing 100% organic if you like to avoid harsh smoke. I find this statement below to be really helpful.

Justus von Liebig, developed the "LAW OF THE MINIMUM" which is important in understanding what AZOMITE® does. The Law states that plant growth is determined by the scarcest "limiting" nutrient; if even one of the many required nutrients is deficient, the plant will not grow and produce at its optimum. Conventional fertilizer programs focus on the macronutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). However, if one of the many essential trace elements is deficient in the soil, the plant will not perform at its optimum, affecting yield and immune function.

Nobody knows for certain which macro/micro nutrient is best for any specific strain. They all have their differences, the best thing you can do is go to the motherland of where the strain your growing first originated. Grow that in a controlled environment along with it's original soil, water, environment, wind speed, lighting cycle, temps etc for it to grow at it's optiumum.
Sounds complicated, can't I just pour mt dew on em?

Research, Research, Research before doing anything. - I see a lot of rookies part way through a grow asking questions they should have known before planting the seed. As part of the research I'd also say don't just read one thing and think you should do it, for example if you want to start scrogging, read every peice of information you can find on it first because there is a lot of different views on everything so take it all in and pick what you think will work best for yourself.

Learn to train your plants before buying some $50 bottle of magic bigger yeild crap, it's virtually free and will greatly increase your yeild. And keep it simple stupid

Very true, but the law of the minimum helps remind us of the entire spectrum of life/nutrition that we have to surround plants with. When i think about all the smoke i've had that was above and beyond the quality someone would presume cannabis is capable of achieving...; their must have been a perfect storm of good genetics and a complex and diverse, symbiotic system of beneficial bacteria, trace minerals, the proper levels of MACRO and MICRO nutrients. Basically, what I was trying to bring to people's attention the importance I'm drawing from "The Law of the minimum", isn't the amounts of everything necessary for optimum growth, but having the mindfulness of all these components that come together to create a healthy ecosystem for plantae... and furthermore how to bring them into the equation in an effective way i.e compost teas, azomite blended into soil... It's the little things that we overlook and the little things that we overdo/underdo. Necessary trace elements like zinc that are removed through reverse osmosis are easily overlooked and can cause problems. Three most common things that go wrong are: Too much light, too much water, and too much nutrients if i'm not mistaken.

Just jump in and start growing! It's a plant like any other plant. If you read everything there is you'll come out being more confused then when you started lol. Definitely stay away from these forums at the start or your head will explode lol. I am somewhat joking but it can get quite confusing to say the least.
