If, you had a choice you know you'd tell them to fuck off . Apple had a choice. I feel what you're saying but what they're asking for isn't right like searching a home without a search warrant isn't right.
The FBI is asking for their assistance in a murder investigation & they refused....

If they're asking me to rat on all my customers just because one or a few of them are pieces of shits I definitely would refuse to help. You would do the same, you sell hella bud if one of your custies turns out to be a terrorist are you going to throw all of them under the bus just because the feds ask you to? I sure as hell wouldn't.

It's like Apple is hiding a gun for Isis to use to kill again & did nothing to assist the police....
That's not entirely accurate.

What Apple is not complying with is giving the United States government the ability to gain "backdoor" or "root" access to iPhones, period. That's a bad thing, and bad for business. They (Apple) would essentially have to start at ground zero with iOS architecture and security. Apple Pay would become unusable, amongst other secured applications.

The mere fact that the FBI is essentially admitting they aren't capable of unlocking the phone themselves speaks volumes to their ability to do much of anything "advanced".

Ever work for the county of San Bernardino? Key cards for every door, each swipe recorded, is it prison or work? it's hard to tell the difference.
County phones have there own network of numbers that are limited to incoming calls only from out of network, they monitor air time, e-mails and keep records.

Other then pictures on the phone, I don't know what good it would be. If it was a County phone, the county has a record of all calls.

I'm pretty happy Apple is getting praised for this move.

Seems like some here have no idea how these phones have been integrated into people's lives. They're not just phones. They have personal data. Pics. History of web travel. Nobodies fucking business but my own.

Millions and millions of phones become insecure in one shot if the fed has their way. They want everything. Access to everything

Fortunately the folks crying here don't seem to be in charge of anything, thank god

Looks like Apple stock is rising. Up $4 a share from 2 days ago when this all started. The market like this move on their part. And for good reason.

lol. I don't blame you for not knowing, but this is kinda what I do for a living.

Long story short, the FBI is after unlocking a phone that is completely locked down, it's the first line of defense and Apple has made it the primary line of defense. In the past, older generations of iPhones had several layers of security, many of which were fairly easy to bypass ("hack") -- of which I was actually able to unlock on my own. But that was generations ago. Today, the iPhone is a MUCH more secure system, having hired many of the intelligent "hackers" that gained popularity from releasing scripts that the common person could use to unlock their phone, have turned those hackers into security engineers and architects.

Nobody needs to bust into an Android, as the platform is open already. It's written in Java/C and for the most part is completely open, with the exception of the kernel. But that kernel is very easily bypassed.

Anywho, the act of unlocking an newer generation iPhone has nothing to do with decoding a 128 bit encryption cipher. #justsayin
Um, Ah,,,I think you have something mixed up here......The hard part is the opening of the phone! Once IN, yeah, everything encrypted is easy for the Fed to Hack...
The act of getting the phone unlocked is the hard part - Iphone or Android! The Android OS is based on Java/C.....The unlocking encryption algorithm is the stone wall......Like I said, Android runs the same "type" of encryption now for unlocking. It may not be the same lines of code exactly but, they do the same job. If you put in the wrong code x amount of times. It has to be reset and all info is lost..

It should be noted that if you back-up or store to the "cloud".....The feds don't "need" to get in your phone - there's a carbon copy of your phone there! Turn off "cloud" back up.....Periodic ghosting of your phone so you don't "loose" can be done by ghosting it to your PC and transferring that to a jump drive that you "hide".....

You mean the united states doesn't have some one smart enough to do it with out Apple? Im confused here. I thought they could listen to us and get our shit any ways.
You can't get interceptions of conversations from a dead phone besides, that ship has sailed

wouldn't you like to know if he was in touch with others symphatizers?

Message to terrorist: Get an iPhone to conduct your dirty work!

jmo,
This would be a perfect time for China to loosen it's hold on it's citizens.
That was part of the trade deal.....

Cook has said on earnings calls that he believes the Greater China region, which includes Taiwan and Hong Kong along with the mainland, will eventually become Apple’s biggest market. Some could get the impression that Apple capitulated to Beijing’s security demands because it wanted access to a huge and growing market.

Where is the pressure for that?

Cook has said if he caves to the US Feds, he'll have to do the same for the rest of the world.

there not asking for assistance there asking them to open up a phone or what has made apple Rich from being legit and one step above all
TBH if you really want to break it down has the Government given the victims millions of dollars Cause this happened ???
its not about opening 1 phone its about the whole platform of which i phone was designed for security and protection of being hacked identity theft etc

If i was apple i would say Sure you want me to open someone elses property and also to make a back door that puts every single owner of my product at risk ??? then tell you what how does 450 trillion dollars sound and you an have it all cause if i do this then my company stands to lose profit from here on in
