Speaking of police, totally off topic, but being that I was a soldier, I considered how my training would partially (even though it should only slightly if at all) translate to police work, but what really made me realize I could never do it is because I could never police my own people, especially regarding bullshit victimless crimes that should be viewed as exercises of freedom.

I think what he meant was, police violence aside, there's a more grave issue when your own people are killing each other, and I think he was meaning to go from there. Just what I surmise.
