Growing Afghani regular

Today is the start of week 3 of flowering. These plants are growing much bigger than most strains I've grown. I'm afraid they may get to big for my tent which is 60" X 60" X 80". They are under a 1000W HPS. Any ideas to slow down growth? Could I drop down to 11 or 10 hours of light? They advertise a 7 week flower period and they've only flowered for 2 weeks and I have about 6 inches left that I can raise my light. Maybe 12 inches if I take of the ratchets and zip tie the light to the top of my tent.
ya gotta defoliate the bottom 4 inches, then supercrop till the canopy is even, then keep cropping till stretch stops, their not done for months.

Sounds like a plan, a good one:]
Peace

I just raised the lights as high as they go in my 80" tent. A couple flowers were above the light before I pulled them down. If I have another 9 weeks I have no idea what I'm going to do.

I am on my 3rd scrog. I'm tying them down now. I was hoping I could reduce light to stunt vertical growth and encourage bud production. There is not much going on at the bud sites. I'm thinking this increased bulk will be offset by smaller buds
Reducing light will encourage stretch. The plant would think that it is living among a bunch of other plants and try to stretch for the sun. Crank the lights up to keep them short and bushy.

I let mine go the full term, till I saw just a few amber trich's, the main colas were huge. It was worth the wait. First one was not even nearly done at 8, good colas but low effect.

Good grow, a tent and some good light make a positive difference.
Biggest issue with this strain had been training it. I've never had a scrogged plant reach my light. I had to take off my light rachets and zip tie the light to the top bar of my tent. But I'm at a good distance now. Definitely scrog this plant, top, and suppercrop.

It's finished and I have to say this is the worst strain I've ever grown. The buds are very small but numerous. I did a nice slow dry and a two-week cure. It smells and tastes worse than anything I've ever grown. I'm turning it all into Keif

Mind you this is not Afghan Kush but the free Afghan regulars from attitude. I've heard decent things about Afghan Kush but in my opinion Afghan regular is not worth growing

Grew a second afghani and harvested , turned out Damn good compared to the first which wasn't worth a shit , smells like Vicks vapor rub and really heavy head high though if given the chance I probably still wouldn't run it twice. Probably toss the rest of the freebies so I won't be tempted in the future to waste a valuable spot for it.

I think its hit or miss. Not much consistency in quality throughout

I did some research and these afghani regular are pure, natural, non hybridized. But the implications are that this strain is not selectively bred. The farmers just gather up all their seeds and sell them for pennies. There is no research, no genetic improvements. They are treated as a commodity and come from so many different sources. So it definitely is hit or miss.

You're telling me the Afghani regulars take 12 weeks to flower? Theyre advertised to flower in 7 weeks. I realize the seed banks usually underestimate these values by about a week but a 7 to 12 week discrepancy seems high
Please dont tell me you guys are growing herbies wack freebies lol omg dudu
