check out growzorb...a new product to consider
https://www.rollitup.org/t/growzorb.902273/
I meant to say thanks for the link. I'll check it out. Respectfully I couldnt imagine anything easier, faster, or more reliable than my home made easy cloner. One week from cutting to transplant! Cheap, easy to make, and simple to use. You dont even have to add anything to the water if you dont want to. Clonex, Hormex, or 100ppm bloom only makes a day or two difference.

Why do you use bloom rather than grow?

Because grow has nitrogen and you dont want to give a plant with no roots nitrogen. Actually a plant with no roots cant absorb any nutrients so I dont even know why people are using it at all unless they're adding it once they notice roots starting. Either way it needs to be very weak. I use water and a drop or two of Hormex rooting solution. That's it and with 3-4 days I have roots and within 7 they are well rooted and ready to pot up.

That makes sense, cheers. No I never did understand the point of giving fertiliser to a plant with no roots, but each to their own :peace:

I've tried the jiffy pellets and hated them...too hard to control the moisture level. I don't like the rockwool much either. I like the rapid rooters or root riots. They take a little longer than the homemade cloner, but I find that they are less hassle and with my grow schedule, I'm not in any hurry anyway, and with Getaway's seafood juice, they turn out beautiful. I cut some clones the other day and got interrupted by a domestic crisis before I got a chance to put them in a tray, and by the time I realized it they were completely wilted. I put them in the tray, sprayed them down good with the seaweed juice, and in a few hours they were doing great.

When you strike your cuttings, use a razor blade and put them directly into ph balanced water so they dont get air bubbles in them. Doesnt hurt to put a drop or two of clonex or hormex in the water. If you do this your clones will be more successful, root faster, and if you dont get to them right away they wont wilt. You have about 24hrs but the faster you prepare them after striking the better off you are. With the cloner you just plug it in, take your cuttings, put them in the holders and your done. I really like it. Sometimes I use fog too, does just as well. You can even just use an air pump also. Most cloners have air pumps and misting nozzels both.

My success rate is nearly 100% with the root riots, I use a razor blade and put them directly into the seafood juice mixture. The only reason the ones wilted, was that I left them in nearly dry root riots and they bounced right back when put into the tray. I don't like the extra space and equipment (like pumps etc) that are involved with the auto cloners, and I have a 3 week leeway in my growing schedule to root the clones. I did some on 4/24 and they are well rooted now. I agree if you're in a big hurry the auto cloners might be best, but if you are set up like me with a 2 month perpetual, it works out fine.

I've found both cube and pucks work. I've learned that temp control in the medium is the trick. I use the heating mat with a towel in between the mat and tray. Seems to keep the tray from getting too hot. Never used the thermostats but would be ideal. If the medium is cold they take 3 weeks to root.
