Dam you guys stript a lot of leaves... I selectively only snipped ones that were really shading things, I took as little as possible, mine were not stripped like those at all, you wouldn't even know I defoliated

that whole let the bud get light is nonsense, buds are sinks they do not need nor do they use light in any way

a shaded bud will grow just like an unshaded bud

All I can say is that their growing fast and I can't tell there was any shock. I'm surprised. Maybe it's the earth juice I feed them. Not sure but they are fattening up. I'll post pics every 4th day

Ok then I have some questions for you, and I'm not asking because I doubt you in any way, I want to learn bro.

Ok so if they don't need light then how come bottom nugs tend to not be done when top colas are, but once you harvest the big flowers all the small undergrowth swells up much bigger?
And how come when I defoliated I notice 4x bud size increase in 3 days where before they weren't growing really at all?

Again my questions are not questioning you, I legit just want to understand the plant better bro

After running my little experiment I agree. While i did get less popcorn, my overall size and growth was greatly diminished by not having all those solar panel fan leaves on there.

I wont be defoliating like this again. This more like a single run experiment. I kept seeing people argue FOR stripping almost every leaf off, so I decided to give it a shot on one of my plants. I like to see things for myself instead of simply just taking stoner science off a forum. This was enough to teach me firsthand that at least for my setup, only removing the bare minimum needed to increase airflow and prevent PM is the way to go. Extreme defoliation as suggested on http://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation really F'ed up my plant.

This is true. I'm seeing it first hand for myself.

Could it be that certain strains do well and others don't? This is a cookie strain that produces small yields anyway so maybe the added light, air and co2 will help it.

because you increased light to the associated leaf supporting the bud, The big fan under a branch supports that branch, the big fan under a bud supports that bud

To see for yourself, remove a leaf that shadows a lower bud and then remove the leaf that supports that bud and watch what happens

I have noticed a dramatic increase in trichs and smell. Is this due to the plants defense mechanism against a herbivore?

Actually, there is a defoiliation technique that encourages heavy de-leafing at days 25 and 45 of flower. The grower actually noticed an explosive increase in bud development, but I'm not saying it's a good method as I have never tried it out.

So don't listen to what the others are saying... yet. We'll see in a few days.

Here's the link: http://www.growweedeasy.com/defoliation
That's true but he does this in veg state to get ready. And he plucks leaves covering bud sites. I think that was a bit much to do in flower, I could be wrong. But he also says do not lollipop. The plants posted looks defoiled and lollipop.

I'll watch I am interested to see how it turns out :)

Bingo, you can invoke the same response merely by licking the leaves, don't have to eat em, they don't like saliva LOL

Insect Fras will invoke as well

but in the end its not as much added goodness as you'd get from adding UV 8)

lots of ways to benefit from defoil in veg as long as you allow the plant to recover before flippin it

Ok, yes I knew about what leaves supports the bud and the stem, I didn't take any from bud sites.... Is that why I didn't ruin my plants? So are you saying SOME selective LIGHT defoliation can be a good thing if you know what tour doing? Even the dude from that thread said its not a style for newbs
