There are probably regional variants. I think back and both my data points come from tobacco country. I know that what I said holds in there or some subset.

Weed makes me brilliant. I just realized that "Mississippi" is a three-syllable word there. Many words in that region gain syllables in the telling. I suspect a conservation principle is at work. Takes a lot of syllables to fill the gap in the Miss'ippi.

Yeah, I lived in Florida for 5 years as a kid still haven't kicked the y'all. Much better saying "what y'all up to?" Than " What are all you up to? "
