Was wondering if this is any way comparable to worm castings? I cant find any worm castings in my area..was wondering if I can substitute with shrimp compost. I don't see any magnesium in it..just calcium.

So you're one of those "Organic growers"?

I'd say use Cal-Mag. My only suggestion. Take out two birds with one stone, and spend alot less.

want all your plants to smell and taste light shrimp
I don't know what I am lol...first ever grow and in the process of gathering materials. I read not to get anything with slow release fertilizer in it..and that's all I see at local stores..miracle gro, Schultz and store brand crap. Im also growing auto flowering so I read nutes aren't very important if you start off with quality soil and ammendments..maybe just in flowering..which I plan to get either bone meal locally..or the one from foxfarms online. I read worm castings work wonders andhelps a lot in different ways..its so inexpensive 15kg for 5$), I thought its a must:)

As for smelling like shrimp lol..I had no idea it would do that! lol..I guess that's a no to shrimp compost then! Why would anyone use it then? If it makes their produce smell like shrimp! lol

It's not gonna make it smell like shrimp. That's like saying all weed would smell and taste like dirt or water and nutrients. but no it's not really a substitute for worm castings.

Shrimp meal is a good amendment to add to your soil but you will need some form of compost to drive it. I say add both. If you cannot source with castings or don't want to ship it to your house just start up a worm bin- best thing you can do to have free castings for life plus worm fed cannabis is the tastiest. Add the castings now but the shrimp meal must be cooked; or let set for 30 days to allow time for the microbes that feed your plants to consume it & make it available; this is the main difference between growing organic and using nutrients.

plants will soak up what ever you give them and smell like it . I give a few of mine sugar free drink mix grape and strawberry so on with clean water when I am flushing and when they dry you can smell the very strong grape smell . I don't see why plants wont soak up a shrimp nutrient if it has a smell and smell just like it .

that's the dumbest shit I've read on this site in a while.
posts like that need an "unlike"
spreading misinformation
you don't see why because you don't understand horticulture and the biology of plants.
google cations and anions
or read a book.
or keep flushing and adding flavors to your weed.

if this is your first ever grow?

imo/= get some local quality mix and start there...!

grow out your first plant with standard commercial stuff

and then move in your interest in organics after that

easier to start with understanding 'teas' then move to soils

take a look at these

Honestly the easiest thing you can do is get a bigass bag of good quality mix like ocean forest or equivalent. Start your plants in small containers & then just transplant as needed to get them large enough. Once they get to the largest pot you have space for flip em. Water only & bubble it for 8 hrs if you use city tap. Easy breezy - learn about organics in the meantime & how to recycle your soil. Good luck happy growing

All this organic talk and so on just confuses me even more! I have no idea that im an 'organic' grower lol..all because I use worm castings? im growing autoflowers so no transplanting and little nutes are needed apparently. I couldn't find worm castings afterall and no dolomite lime. Im just gonna put it in the soil and water it..whateer comes of it does lol. This is way too complicated! lol

Keep it simple, I surely don't want to confuse you. Just get the plants in some dirt and water them. Read all you can about growing in the meantime.

all ive done is read lol..for the last 6 weeks. The more I read, the more confusing it gets. One person says do it this way..another completely contradicts that person and says do it the oppositre. One says absolutely don't do x..another says its perfectly fine lol. I have no idea. In the end, im not adding anything to the soil..just water..hopefully I can get 7 grams off it and get my money back lol

its a great site..very informative..but there seems to be a million ways to grow a plant..so im choosing the easiest way lol. Water and soil and watch it grow or tip over and die lol. Hopefully the soil will give it all it needs for the 3 months its supposed to grow lol.

It will if you keep adding fresh soil through transplanting. When I say read I mean read books. This site if full of contradictions because it's mostly opinions & everyone has their own way of doing things that they think is best. Find your own way; I recommend checking out:

Cannabis grow bible
G.Green

Mj growers handbook
Ed Rosenthal

Teaming with microbes
Jeff Lowenfels & Wayne Lewis

True living organics
The Rev

Some of these titles can be found whole or in part online for free so get crackin
