400watt hps, 180w ufo led
Really wish i got the 600 or 1000watt setup but i was worried about heat which ended up still being a problem with the 400 so i got a tube instead. An i had emergency blankets but there too thin an get very dirty so i got a roll of this mylar stuff thats used for duct work, pretty thick. Oh ye an the closet is about 20 inches wide by about 5 feet long. An to think i was gunna fit 10 of them girls lol. Would love some more input on defloration etc, my buddy is completely against it but i think some more light penetration could help. I took off any leaf thats stem was over an inch on 1 plant about a week ago, its still in pace with the 4 others an you couldnt tell the difference after a week. I think im going to completely defoliate another at day 21 an 45 then compare come hatvest time
Hey big laski,
Cheers for the update and more info. I'm very interested in any LED use especially along side HPS. Its all new to me the LED world. I will follow with interest.
As for defoliation, its not something I have done either (in massive amounts) However all over every forum of this type the debate rages on. I think in your situation there is a place for it, I do mean very small amount though. Ive seen a lot of people show examples of lollipopping which is extreme, however they obviously like the results. I don't think I would ever go down that route myself.
I have over the years had occasions where the weather has changed rapidly and ive slipped up by not going into my room often enough for various reasons and thus had serious wilting mid flower. That caused all my big leaf to not recover and then they drop off. In that case I noticed a big increase in sugarleaf/ small leaf, so its my belief based on that that the plant makes up for loss of its big solar panel leafs by increasing the size of the smaller leaf. That is why I'm not sure about the extremes of lollipopping. That would be my opinion though and I'm sure many would disagree.
Sounds logical to try what your saying and compare to the others.
My worry about the space blankets was not to mock, but to save you from creating hot spots on your girls and burning them in their lady bits!
By the way although I prefer a lot of space between plants a good friend of mine uses my clones and has very cramped conditions. He pulls out some nice amounts, overall his bud density is lower than mine but he does very well with his space.
Will keep an eye on your progress. Good luck with it.
