For the South, it wasn't about the slavery, it was about their rights and their way of life, which happened to be made off the backs of slaves, but it made their half of the country what money it had. Made millionaires with the agricultural production and fed the Southern way of life. Not only that, but the South lost a bunch of soldiers--young men fighting for their ideology--and civilians, too, and even though I'm a Yankee, born and bred, I think that's the most important thing to keep in mind. So, I do think the Rebel flag should be left alone and Confederate fallen should be honored and not forgotten, even if I disagree with their ideology. I get really annoyed and even pissed when I see the Confederate battle flag/standard/guidon, but it's their right and their principles.
