Nobody said you have to trim the little buds guy, especially if you're cutting them off to begin with. Throw it in the garbage after harvest or make hash -- but all you're doing is reducing overall plant photosynthesis by removing it. If it's unproductive plant material the plant will drop it on its own.

Does Scrog increase yield? Is not basically the lower 1/3 of the plant removed? Just wondering if that is not kind of the same thing as defoliation? Never done a scrog but have seen some pretty epic ones on here.

The notion that there is a right or wrong answer for this issue that can be applied to every situation is just absurd to me -- and that goes for just about every polarizing cannabis topic. No, it is a remedy for low light and\or novice gardeners.

Per square,foot a topped and well trained plant yields the most.

Been tinkering with defoliation for fun on one of my ladies. Its striking to me how fast they recover, and how the lower level future bud sites react to having some better light send down to them. First pics before I cut anything, second one is after, 3rd is only 2 days after cutting leaves. 4th is me removing leaves again. Its fun to tinker. =) (blue dream gal btw starting 4th week from seed)

Well yes a remedy for low light so what if any difference between that a the other. I guess I just think it's kind of the same. Always wanted to try one and not for lack of light, just curious but lazy lol.

No, I said neither improve yield over conventional methods.

It is fun to scrog, and by keeping the top of the plant level you get some benefits.

Being able to control how and where the plant grows is a nice change over " ok what is thing gonna do".

Buds are flowers; leaves need light because that is were the photosynthesis occurs, not the flowers. Flowers do NOT need light.
