More animal abuse from my neighbors

it might sound cruel but if the initial cost of an animal were higher it would weed out the poorer buyers who maybe shouldn't have one to begin with and if the industry were regulated that might help.
but also, there are people who can afford to buy an animal leaving their dogs alone at home to destroy their property and then abandoning the dogs or dropping them off to shelters...how do you deal with them?
you can't force someone to be kind. but you can restructure the market to make it harder for some people to get an animal in the first place. idk if that's the answer either. I've had animals all my life...and i'm not nor will I ever be wealthy, but I was taught to be empathetic. how do you teach people that who didn't learn it at home?
maybe if I start drinking I'll think of a solution.

I don't think there is an easy solution. Mandatory spay and neuter for all dogs and cats. Have people who breed have some education and be licensed to do so.
Make the penalties for disobeying the law real and enforce them. Michael Vick got 23 months. Less than 2 months of jail time for every dead dog they found on his property. I'd bet he would've gotten less had he not been in the NFL and in the public eye.

I've often fantasized about smashing vick's (name doesn't merit capitalization) head in with a sledgehammer....real TOUGH guy exterior but a frightened little bitch on the inside, as is so often the case with bullies and evil sorts.

Better still, how about this as an option for vick and others like him (demons masquerading as human): A quick spray down with beef gravy and toss 'em into a pre-sanctioned area occupied only by wolves and/or wild dogs? The dogs receive needed nutrients and protein and the world rids itself of anti-karmic filth; what could be the downside?

Do that with him and estimated 40,000 like him. I wouldn't object. They could sell it on pay per view and use the money on the dogs.

One thing that came from that is the public was able to see dogs can come from that environment and still be normal pets. Some becoming therapy dogs working with kids and old folks. If it had been just your average inbred dog fighter the dogs would've been killed without anyone knowing or caring.

I still think he should be beat with a piece of garden hose everyday for the rest of his life.I'd volunteer to do it for free. I'd even supply the hose.

I'd take you right down to the Combat Zone for some red char siu ribs, over to Quincy Market for some fresh produce and goat, then over to Mike's for some cannoli, steadily getting beer buzzed/stoned the whole way!

So this past week has been in the triple digits and I've heard that dog barking and crying pretty much all day, every day. I would go outside and check on it periodically and it looked like it was being tortured. Just pacing back and forth throughout its cell, shaking his head to get a moment of relief from the flies constantly buzzing around it. Yesterday the neighbor must have saw me looking at it so he came back and asked if the music he was playing was too loud. I asked him about the dog and the condition he was in, the neighbor obviously didn't care about it at all, he just walked over to his cage and snapped his fingers to get it to shut up.. So that was pretty much it, I called animal control, they sent a guy out today and they took the dog away. The control officer told me his ears were bleeding, and they hadn't bothered to clean up any of the dogshit in his enclosure, that it was everywhere and that the water bucket he was drinking from was dirty and covered in algae... It should not have taken me that long to call. Fuck.

They took him to a no kill shelter where he can get his ears fixed and finally get some decent treatment. He said the owners didn't even complain, they actually thanked him when they took him off their hands.. Fuck, how can people be so goddamn stupid...

I couldn't do that for work. Ever watch dog fighting documentaries what people put those dogs threw? I'd be in prison no doubt about it. People shouldn't own a breed of dog that require's that much exercise and animal socialization just to leave chained up all day.

Ive done 5 yrs in state prison because i took control of a situation like this near where i live a few yrs ago. Im a mutt native american but i was taught RESPECT FOR ALL LIFE by my elders, i will not tolerate animals being abused in my presence.I see dogs especially as members of my family....my kids if you will. I will defend them like i would ANY member of my family. The more folks become akin to this mindset the less chance there will be animals will run into neglectful douchebags.
