How to start up ???

Just curious...

In light of the raid.... how did the dispensaries start up? I mean... the process...

Find a place.
Lease the place.
Fit it with necessities.

What about the business license? What was put on the form as the nature of the business?

What about insurance?

Not only am i curious about the actual step by step process... i wonder... why/how would the city approve a license for a dispensary if they are "illegal"?

Is there not a some legal defence there. Is the city not culpable in that respect?

In MOST jurisdictions, no business license is required as they are an illegal business and the municipality doesn't condone what they are doing. In some like Vancouver and Victoria, the city issues a license providing you meet certain conditions and can put up a shitload of cash. They are still illegal and that's where the messiness is going to happen. What happens if the RCMP bust a dispensary licensed by a city? Who is at fault? Is the city not aiding and abetting? If you want to go deeper, isn't license fees and taxes paid by dispensaries considered 'proceeds of crime'? Let's hope they address at least their intent on the future of dispensaries in August.

Oh....

I just thought that if you lease a place and start doing business out of it...selling anything... you have to have a business license.

It occurs to me now, long after the bong hit that preceded the revealatory original post, that you dont "have" to. But if you dont the fines are hefty hefty...here anyway...

Some have been operating for 10+ years and the cities turned a blind eye. No enforcement...no fines...what's changed? Except the potential cash cow, of course.

The one and only compassion club here operated for about 10 years then about 6 months ago it was busted...same reason i guess...

I am very tempted. Im out of a job, but i have a few bucks for start up... just not quite enough on my own...

Plus i think itd get busted. I would take that hit though to push things along and show people this needs to happen. But i dont have enough cash to fight that fight and survive.

But if anyone wants to help the cause and remain anonymous... i have a the necessary skills...

that would be great.
if you did it and got busted, use the John Turmel stuff. it does work. he just got Gregory Magneson (not sure of the spelling. that's bad because I helped on this one) off on his charges and he had over 500 plants...the Turner case John worked on got that guy off and he had 2800 plants.

I cant even imagine the electric bill...lol

When you get a business licence it has to reflect the type of business applied for. Currently many municipalities and cities don't have a category to sell cannabis. In August the new regs will reflect a HC approval for store front distribution by LP associated outlets to approved patients. At that time every two bit mayor will be bringing an order in council to include these once sinister and un-licenced establishments under their auspices via a small fee.
