Wow, I've seen all I need to on this Tupur to know I must give it a try in the future. If I didn't already have a set variable for this next run, that would be it!
I'm impressed with it. I haven't flowered in it yet but all my veg girls are looking really good, and that bodes well for the end result.

I've seen you on a ton of LED and CDL (CMH) threads and I have an off-topic random type of question you may have some valuable input on. What are your thoughts on a half CDL/ half COB 3590 lighting setup? I've been devoting many hours of research into the idea. My own first two CDL 315's just arrived today and I plant to veg with them for now and likely implement many more of them and possibly 3590's into my bloom 12 X 12.

I'm developing some experience with both of these lighting systems and I'd say your biggest problem will be one of direction;

315W CMH lights are omnidirectional, throwing light in all directions pretty evenly, save for along the axis- that is, out the end or past the socket. To direct that light to the canopy, you need either reflectors or to hang the bare lamp vertically in the middle of the plants. This results in one kind of distribution pattern.

COB LED is fairly directional, by contrast. The light distribution pattern is quite different, leading to potential issues.

The heat emitted by the two is different, but it isn't huge, like DE might be.

My plants respond well to both, but better to the COB LED.

I'm currently using 315W CMH in veg and CXB3590 powered modules in bloom.

Did you get the phantom 315 ballast? Does it have a fan in it? In my experience with cmh it runs hot. Hotter than you would expect from 315w. If you can, mount ballasts outside room.

Very solid info from everyone. I did get the Phantom kits and probably going to get at least one more. Running a test tonight to see what one of the 315's does in a 4x4 with a simple desktop fan sitting on the floor in the corner running on high aimed upwards and the upper lips of tent zipper wide open. I'm hoping to get a good idea of what I'll need to do for heat in a 8x4 for veg where I'm planning to run two of the phantom kits. Likely going to get a can can max 6" to exhaust the 4x8.

I'm switching from soil to DTW in bloom this run and also removing one or two air cooled 600's and swapping them for one or two pre-built CXB3590 units of equal or slightly more wall draw strength. After I see how those perform in comparison to the existing HPS I'll decide how to move forward. The yet to be released BLI (Boulder Lamp) CMH's with the LED ride alongs may be the best option to combine both technologies. We'll see how crazy the price tag is though...

Boulder lighting has already been testing on this forum.

If they aren't ready for prime time YET I'd say they need to go away.

thanks bro. its going to be such a relief once we get everything situated in the greenhouses. i'm watering by hand with 5 gallon buckets right now and its killing me. we're installing a 9 zone sprinkler controller with two sprinkler boxes for manifolds and solenoid valves. once feeding consists of just watching the show i'm going to have to pinch myself to make sure i'm not dreaming.

I'm sure you'll find something to keep you busy, lol

One thing that I wish we had done differently regarding the irrigation system we built is to skip the pressure tank. We thought it would be a good idea initially but after using the system for a season I realized its just a pain in the ass. We have two tanks: one with nutrient solution and one plain water. With the pressure tank hooked up there are always 20+ gallons to account for already in the system. I am going to install a valve to cut out the tank on our system. The sprinkler timer works like a dream. It can handle 9 zones.

Outdoor or even better...greenhouse with a perfect drip system alternating between water and nutrient solution...perfect. They get big...fast with that kind of setup. I ttoo use a drip system..inside and out but mines much more simple. An easy drip line manifold with 55 gallon drums of solution with those cheapy 1000 gph hydro store pumps. At anyrate...you got shit looking nice. Alot.of work huh?

Can any of you guys give me some tips for feeding in coco/perlite during veg? Like every cycle i seem to be battling deficiencies during veg. I always do well in bud but I never have green flawless looking plants in veg. I understand that extra calcium and magnesium need to be supplemented but I still have some purple stems and pale foliage during veg for some reason. What are you guys feeding and at what strength?
