My sugar pumpkins are ripe already and the vines are going south in a hurry. But I have sprouts on the "big" pumpkins I planted the other day. The man said they could get up to 30-40 pounds, so we will see what I can do with them.I was investigating my pumpkin situation and something just wasnt right. I had waaay to many flowers than what i usually have. So after some more investigation it seems during the seeding process (dad makes hole in dirt, kids drop seed then cover) the younger boys decided they wanted to grow "small sugar" pumpkins and fail to tell me about it.
So, i surely wont have the largest, but im sure we will have quite a bunch.
Grow on !
Damn bra ! Blowing it up !So far no sprouts from the Big Max seeds. Today is a good Above Ground day, so I will go ahead and plant the rest of them in the same hills.
But the other pumpkins are getting ready to vine. I need to get a little more fertilizer to them while I can, before they take off.

Looking good. You are much further along than I am.View attachment 3736612 View attachment 3736613 The patch . I got pumpkins
Lol !
The one in the picture I broke off the vine trying to stand it up right but I got more . It was the size of a watermelon
So tell me , do you have to set the pumpkin upright so it doesn't grow flat ?Looking good. You are much further along than I am.
It's been years since I grew any of the giant ones, but I remember us adjusting them as they grew so they wouldn't get on the vines. We never did it, but I have seen folks grow them on pallets so it will be easier to move later on.So tell me , do you have to set the pumpkin upright so it doesn't grow flat ?
Is it possible ?
