Three officers are feared dead after a shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officials said.

Kip Holden, the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish, said authorities were still trying to get a handle on the situation, but added, "The count is three officers dead possibly." The victims may include police officers and sheriff's deputies.

"There is still an active scene. They are investigating," he said. "Right now we are trying to get our arms around everything."

The shooter is believed to be down as well, Holden said.
"Everything is moving fast and I have not been able to verify everything," he said.

Authorities did not immediately say where the Sunday morning shooting occurred, or release additional details. But Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L. J. McKneely said "multiple" officers were down. He couldn't elaborate on the extent of their injuries.

The scene, however, is contained, McKneely said.

Since the shooting death of Alton Sterling by Baton Rouge police earlier this month, the department has worried about credible threats against officers. "We can't take anything for granted any more," East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said last week. He spoke shortly after police arrested three people they believe were planning to kill police in the city.

In all seriousness I blame Obama. This violence is a direct result of him not being able to pull together the country that he has been elected responsible for. Is it that hard to get our people to respect our officers?

How many apologies has he given for the loss of american lives? Why not actually do something about it.

I know it hasn't been confirmed that black lives matter launched the attack, but how could you be surprised if that was in fact the case with all the recent uproar displayed by the movement?

We don't know who the shooter is yet.

He can't even handle Chicago and people think he could do it at a national level?

What can Obama do that the Senate wouldn't block?

He was never in charge of Chicago. What are you talking about? Crime was high there with the bushes as president and every sitting president since at least prohibition.
Thanks for proving he accomplished nothing as a community organizer or during his 2mins as a senator.

It's funny how quick he is to respond to any mainstream media shooting, but refuses to acknowledge the 50+ that happen here every weekend

well, you're not only wrong on every point you attempted to make, but we can pretty much hear you sneering in disgust as you say 'community organizer'.

thanks for making it easy for us to identify you as a racist!

have a blessed day.

It could be because police are held to a higher standard supposedly. They represent the government and the president is the head position of the government. So he needs to address it when the government is thought to be killing its citizens. Unless you want the police to act like the gang bangers and drunk wife beaters who shoot their wives that your mentioning(the 50+ not talked about murders). Dirty murdering pigs are criminals just the same as any other murderer. Except the civilian population at large feels like the police are protected and allowed to commit crimes in the name of "justice ".

None of this is "news" or new anymore. It's been going on along time. Just the media of all kinds can spread the word of what's happening a little more. Or focus on one event and not cover the news at all. But violence in America is not new..
