The term "Defoliation" is being thrown around and all the new guys are frantically trying to learn. With the explosion of new growers, it's like the blind showing the blind, and I can sympathize with the mis-information. You probably watched a noob on video, wrongfully trying to teach that Defoliation will somehow benefit your garden. Here's why it wont.

Plants use a technique called "Transpiration" to move water and hence nutrients throughout its cells. Here's a clip of video that might help clear your understanding.

By removing leaves, not only hinder Transpiration, but also hinder the chloroplasts from the production of Carbohydrates. Here's another video of how the Chloroplasts work.

It absolutely gains yield when you pluck leaves from BUSHES. The people who oppose plucking leaves are most likely growing little guys where it's just not necessary to do it. If you grow big monsters you would know that you absolutely must trim the fan leaves away half way through flower to avoid larfy buds and oddly, when you pluck the leaves you don't only see the shaded buds plump up but you also see the colas grow bigger. I cannot tell you the science behind it, I just think of it as transfer of energy. But it's real though, I just did a side by side where at day 30 I removed all the leaves from one tree and left alone the other two. By day 50, I was so pissed that I didn't do all the plants that I spent 2 hours removing leaves from the other two and abandoned the side by side experiment. I can look and clearly see a huge difference in size, maturity and density of the buds, inside the plant and at the bottom and the colas. The buds that are totally shaded will be far less mature as well as smaller than they could be. Underdeveloped and immature.

Chlorosis is when chlorophyll breaks down and is no longer a viable source for carbohydrates for the plant. It's essentially a break in the chloroplasts system. The full potential of radiation is not being used and why it reflects in a non-green colour.
There are many reasons why chlorosis can occur. Sometimes can be cured, and sometime it cant, leading to Necrosis.
With Cannabis, Necrosis should all be removed, when possible.

Im sorry, but without sources or science behind what you're saying it's not fact.

Bigger yields are from more Veg time and larger root mass. What you're saying is simply not true. Cheers.

You did a side by side but abandoned it? That's sucks, maybe someday a positive effect can be proven.

Maybe RUI should make sub-forum for defoliation

I didnt post to impress you, just to show a point. Those 5 plants are 20ft long and 5 ft wide. Again, if you can't back your statements, please don't post false information to confuse new growers.

So you're already so late in flower you can speak well about it? Comparing two different experiences from CLONES? I'm pretty sure you've covered all the indications that your information is objectively subjective

It's kinda a bummer, and I wish no ill-will towards his grow, whether he agrees with real plant facts or not. I really wasn't trying to be argumentative, but hoping it would get him to start searching for true information and not buy into all the pseudoscience that's going around.
