You've been told it's over 100% load, not that it won't work. Analog electronics have a buffer/fudge factor built in, each individual driver will behave differently in that zone. The only specs guaranteed are in the data sheet.Help me out here guys. How is it possible a 143 volt driver can work on 4 cobs in series at 1400ma that take a total of 147 volts to run. Basically run 20 CLU048 1212 with 5 hlg 185h-1400b drivers. I've already been told it won't work but I seen with my own eyes that it works and works well. The 4 cobs were mounted on 5.88×36 inch heatsinks with 3 fans on each heatsink. Temps never get higher than 30c. Someone please tell me how this is working.
I don't think there's actual UV in any LED fixture except the Amare with the uv-b fluorescent bulb in the middle? I see a lot of cheapo blurples being marketed as Full spectrum + UV, but that's just marketing/lies.Best 300-600w LED for under $400? Looking for full spectrum with UV. Goal being one top quality plant with as close to a lb yield as i can. Thanks

Back in the days of CXA(long before most here today)...I put 4 cxa3070(~37v each) onto a 185-1400b. voltage was ~148.2v on the string. The driver current had to drop to 960ma to handle them. Could have ran a 1050 version correctly and gotten more wattage, and been within specs of the driver. 100% load on a driver is working full/hard already when ran correctly. Not sure how longevity would be when doing that for extended period.Help me out here guys. This is as close as you're gonna get to quality pre-built, for a DIY price as far as I can see. They tell you what top-bin they use & drivers. You can buy cobs & drivers from them too. If you are worried, spend a few bucks more and buy the HLG-240H. This really isn't that complicated.

That would grow some nice plant!

$86 for the heat sinks using a 1.813 profile
around $150-$180 for the drivers, rough guess.
Extra for frame to build onto, thermal paste, wire ect. Not sure on those figures.
Rough guess it would cost you $100 more than your budget, maybe less
But with 44% efficiency would out perform a LED single diode panel which cost more.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to pull a pound off one though. I can pull a pound of a 600w hps in that space. Never tried with only one plant but that doesn't mean much.
I may have been conservative with the driver price, I was assuming you could get away with 3 and it may be you would need 4 priced at $50 each.
If all you want to do is pull a pound of a plant why not go hps until you can stretch to building something super special. Its a way to start off.
There are lots of folks on here sell COB lights, just not sure they fit in your price range.

He used a driver that is 300w rated.I see a light that has a mean well power supply rated at 200W yet the light builder claims its a 300 watt light. Can someone explain. How a power supply that's rated at 200 watt power that?
