I picked up Neem oil extract today as well as Bonide Citrus Fruit & Nut Orchard spray. It's 10% Sulfur and .25% Pyrethins. Have any of you guys used it before. For fruit trees, you can spray the day before harvest.

The Neem oil says to put 1-2 oz per gallon for insect control. Is that about what you guys use for bud worms? And how much of a drenching do I give the girls?

I use a tablespoon per gallon of the neem i moist them top and bottom,I use a similar spray different brand as part of my rotation.I run a pyrethins timed sprayer next to a fan the last month or so.They use those timed sprayers in a few restaurants so it should be good to go

Thanks for the reply. The garden girl at Lowe's said it was save to use on food crops right up to harvest. She Goggled it for me before I decided on it.

The last time I had bud worms was about 20 years ago. {with a 12 year break from growing in there} That time I was just a couple weeks away from harvest, so I just picked them off as I found them. It also had a weird wasp looking thing. Not sure if it was helping me out, or the parents to the worms. That plant was my biggest yielder to date. I always wondered what it would have done without the worms.

I'd limit the pyrethrin, especially when fruit is on the vine. While neen can still impart a certain flavor, but it's healthier than pyrethrin imo. You already know too much neem can clog the stomata and stress a plant.

I've heard you can't spray neem too far into flower. How far is too far?

I sprayed the BST2's with 1 TSP neem per gallon of water yesterday. I couldn't find a single worm, so I guess I did a pretty good job of picking the other day.

The BST2 is a new strain to me, so don't know how long it will take. Since there wasn't any visible worms, I just gave it a light misting.

They are almost a week into flower now. I would love to be chopping at the end of September. And the BST1 in the GN patch is a week ahead of these.

Getting any smells off anything yet?
The BST2 stinks to high heaven. The BST1 to a lesser degree. The Sidetracked: seeds smell is much more subtle. Last year the BP had the best smell. I have one {of the three seeds} going, but it's still pretty young. I didn't write anything down last year, but I think it was mid to late August when they started to flower. The smells will pick up then.

Speaking of the BP, she is about titty nipple high. That is about 3 times as tall as the mother plant got last year. But then I did forget about that patch for a couple three months with little sun and no water other than rain. I moved her out into the sun as she was starting to flower. If I had known how good the smoke was going to be, I would have hit her with more pollen.

Damn am I glad I work inside. Just walked a bag of trash out to the dumpster. Hot as hell on that blacktop. I looked when I got back inside, and it's 95F with Heat Index of 113F.

We have a week of tropical weather coming our way. 15-20 inches of rain expected. If it comes all at once, the GV2's and the GV3 in the PH patch will be in danger of flooding. Rare for us to have summer floods. I waited to plant them until after the Spring flood. BIL told me not to risk it. Maybe I should have listened. Time will tell.
