Honestly, IMO, an important part of about growing is knowing your equipment. You can mimic everything that someone else does, but you might be lost as to why you are having issues in the room. Read as much as you can before diving in and understand the basics. Learn why a good environment is important. Learn why people use different lights because people tend to choose different things depending on their situation. For example, people in tents might tend to lean towards led's or HPS cool tubes to counter their heat problems. Where somebody with a closed room and AC might decide to go with an open hood with an HPS or a vertical style HPS bulb setup. What medium are you going to use? Soil, or hydro of some sort? Choosing a medium is going to decide how much work is put in and at what time. An example, if you decide to go with coco you will be watering everyday, sometimes twice a day or more depending on the stage of growth. If you go soil, there are ways to only use water instead of having to fiddle with amendments during watering. My point is there are many ways to skin a cat, and until you understand the basics you cannot know exactly what you need or what you are missing. I gave you some basic questions that I would start with trying to answer. Good luck, and like sworth said, we do care.
