At one point in time, this was my main concern. Now though, I've arrived to the point where I honestly believe that he is intentionally sabotaging his campaign. Anyone who's been in this country longer than about 9 days knows that once you secure your party's nomination, conventional wisdom tells you to pivot toward the middle ideologically if you expect to have any realistic chance of winning the presidency. Not only has he not done that, he has doubled down on his primary strategy. What this allows him to do is intentionally lose the election without angering those who so fervently supported him. trump is a complete piece of shit, but he's not a stupid man. He does not want to win.

Yup, this makes perfect sense; in his eyes, a presidential campaign is a two year long publicity bonanza someone else is always happy to pay for. If that's not the Chump's style, tell me what is!

Trump's behavior is sooo far out of the norm that it is difficult to believe he is serious about winning. But, they said the same about his run at Republican nomination and he steamrolled everybody that was in his way. Maybe he is not trying to win by running a conventional campaign in the general election. Each presidential election, there is a huge group that don't vote at all. I've read one analyst that suggested his path to victory depends on agitating and energizing the complacent non voter into voting for him. It's a large pool of people that don't get asked who they will vote for (because they don't vote, duh). They aren't included in prediction models either.

Just saying that there might be method to his madness and we might wake up Nov 9 to hear the dreaded words...

the same thought occurred to me, since paul mannafort has been cracking the whip Trump looks unelectable from this side of the pond. There is a general misunderstanding about US politics in the UK in that the general assumption is Americans are politically retarded and naïve, they base this on the fact that you have chosen to choose between a joke and a criminal, you have george bushes as former presidents and Obama plays golf and icreases the national debt to record levels to keep the Dow and S&P500 at record highs
