Seeds vs Clones pros and cons

In California, clones are available in most dispensaries so it's a good way to try new strains without much effort or expense. Cost is $12 per in the stores I've used.

Im not very good at cloning but a seed will always be stronger than its clone.

Indoors it may not matter to much but outdoors the difference can be quiet stark.

7-14 days to sprout then another 3 weeks of sugar faze then real growth kicks in at week 4 then another 3-6 weeks of veg then flower by that time im about 3 weeks into flower seeds take about 30 days to mature be4 real growth kicks in u can go 12/12 but u still will have about a 3-5 week growing fazze be4 she show pistels

That's your argument? That a rooted plant is faster growing then a seed that has not germinated????? Well no shit!
If you took a plant from seed and had a clone same size and same number of nodes....sorry dude... tap root wins. Better root system means more nute uptake which will lead to faster more vigorous growth.

Yes this is very true. Usually indoors doesn't have much of a veg time so it doesn't matter.

yea and the plant doesnt have to seek out water etc. Its there provided for them.

Main reason I ask about the yield difference between seed and clone is because I had an old timer tell me a long time ago that clones will never have as much vigor or yield as a seed because your essentially growing a branch of a plant instead of a whole plant with a seed.

Indoors the clone wins due the typical fast time frame and it's basically a mature plant so faster to produce flowers, not the finish time though, IMO. But I do believe outdoors the seed would be healthier and stronger than a clone.

The one with the tap root will always win out. The only reason for clones is so you know exactly what your getting.

I will just say that is not true in my garden.

A bad grower can screw up a great plant, a good grower can grow a healthy plant, an excellent grower can grow an exceptional plant.

Clones have there purpose, but a serious grower understands the benefit of using real seeds. Cannabis clones have a shorter harvest time, due to the fact that they begin at a later stage of development. However, clones do not grow as tall or produce as much cannabis as first generation cannabis seeds purchased from a seed bank.

Well that depends lol. But yup given the same conditions and if compared over the same time frame of several months versus weeks (indoor hydro) I think seeds would produce more vigorous girls, it would be an interesting side by.

I have a breeder friend in the PNW who warned me about constant clones of the same strain being slowly "diluted" and not as strong as the orig. Imho patience is key for this plant to give you 110%. So that being said reg beans are hard to beat.

How long did he say it takes? I've been doin a clone from a clone from a clone on the same plant for over 3 years and get the exact same plant every time

Im not sure let me ask him. I have a shitload of respect for his gear both in price and quality.

Fact of the matter is this argument will never end. Clone growers will defend same as seed growers will.
It's the same as the whole hydro vs. Soil
Or indoor vs outdoor.

If you really want to know you should read read read. Read several reputable sites wrote by reputable growers. Fact of the matter is we all have our own opinions and growing experience, so the answers will always differ.

Man I am looking forward to that day, they grow so quickly I would (with limited space) want to do clones all the time.
