HPS far from sucks bud. If you're not getting enough light out of a new bulb I would venture to guess you're using a big, wide hood? Big hoods drastically reduce the density of the light but do increase the spread. A 600 in a big hood will look like nothing basically.Things got outta control really fast... The 69 is now 69x2. I am forced to add the a51 xgs 190 with the Ecosunlite Cree9. Will add the 55x3 Sunday also. I wanna get as much out of her as I can.
I bought a 600w hps bulb earlier cause the one I had seemed to me that it didn't gave enough light. I wasn't testing it in the grow room. Got the new bulb, mounted it over the plant and same thing happened, not enough visible light... and that heat...
Anyways, hope I learned the "hps sux " lesson.
Try a small DayStar or Phantom hood. I use one w/ a 600 & it puts out more intensity/density then my 1000 watt in the big Raptor hood. Hoods are important as to how much light you'll get back. They are made in different sizes & shapes to coincide w/ your grow style & needs. Hope this helps!
You have an Eco Cree-9 cobbler? That's their biggest one right? I'd like to see it if you don't mind? Those are interesting lights to me. I like how they enhanced burple rather then enhanced white.
I own Amare & it performs better then I ever expected LED to perform. I did a thread on it vs. my Hydroponics Hut Pro-Grow X5-500. The Amare SE-450 yielded me 18.5 oz. in the bag & another 3 for oil from not Loli-popping. The HH only gave me back 7 oz for the bag n 2 in pop-corn.
Same strain cloned from the same branch. Both in a 4'x4'.
I'm real interested to see how the EcoSun does on its own. I'll stay tuned.
I was referring to the small hood on the right as being condensed HO.
