Well, you could always save it for later or get a hood if need be.Well I just ordered this and I'm gonna see if the heat is to much or not and decide wich one to keep I gotta play with one before I can feel secure with my investments.
I'm trying a 600watt dimmable set up. I want to alternate between herb and vegetables personal/hobby as well. Gardening is supposed to be therapeuticGuys I have a really old LED sold by the same people who last I checked sold Mars on eBay. Got it several years ago, maybe 5 or something. Don't remember but, it's got 60 3 watt LED's and many spectrums designed like was thought to be the most advanced at that time. It's Blurple but more white than an even older Blurple I had. Keep in mind I only grow a couple of plants at a time and it works fine. I have also used HPS and obviously I think it is much better for plants, quality of fruit and yield, but, I still use the LED in addition to the HPS. I like having the different sources of spectrums together. It works terrific. And since I am only doing a few plants, I hang them on each side at an angle. Not directly above or sideways. I figure I have conservatively at least 5,000 hours on it and it works and looks new even though it's kinda obsolete some might say. I have also used it along with CFL and that works good too. Anyway, they are fine. If you could pick up some for cheap, I would actually recommend them to use along with another source of light. IF. Last I looked at them several years ago, a UFO almost exactly the same light I have but far newer, they were selling two 180 UFO's in an eBay auction for like $60 shipped. That's cheap IF they are the same quality build as my antique and they are still available which I doubt. But, like I said. I purchased it from eBay from the same people I later saw were selling Mars. Mine was an auction and I payed well over $100 and that was cheap compared to the buy ut now. They were far more expensive back then when they were just gaining popularity.
I'm going to be getting a COB soon tho. Not that I am unhappy or need to, but because it's been a while and I want to try one. And they are getting really cheap. The pics I have seen from journals and the caliper of growers using them, trying COB just makes the most sense right now. Otherwise I would think the ole tried and true HPS is the better light. No comment on COB sense I have never actually used one yet. I have smoked serious Mars grown dank too tho.
Remember. I am micro for personal. Growing peppers is like a hobby. I make zero dollars from growing anything. How I grow probably wouldn't be as effective for larger growers. I'm just saying. Lots of options depending on the individual what you may want to use. I probably have one of the simplest and cheaper setups on the RIU that actually works well. I have wasted too much on lights tho. I tried some kind inductive CFL light thing once too lol. That was $120 that quickly went in the trash. Others were singing the praises and maybe it did work. I just didn't get the right induction light. I don't know.
Honestly I know nothing about the Apollo brand. But, my little cheap 150 HPS from HTG works awesome compared to CFL and really old Blurple LED. They are pretty simple old tech so, I can't imagine that Apollo not working well for you for while and it's super cheap so. I think you will grow dank with that assuming all other factors involved are met. Dimmable too! Yeah man. You got a good deal in my opinion it will more than pay for itself fast too.Well I just ordered this and I'm gonna see if the heat is to much or not and decide wich one to keep I gotta play with one before I can feel secure with my investments.
I don't mean to actually talk shit on MarsHydro. I was just pissed at Jorge's arrogance, saying that Mars is a real LED and Vipar is not, with no real idea what he's talking about. I said earlier, it's about how you apply it. So I apologize.Guys I have a really old LED sold by the same people who last I checked sold Mars on eBay. Got it several years ago, maybe 5 or something. It's funny you say that.....I could tell the first day I joined over there and read through a few things...I don't mean to actually talk shit on MarsHydro. After I got my 150 HPS for $65, it was a HTG Supply brand from them on eBay shipped. I saw a dimmable 25o HPS for just like $100. I kinda regret not getting that since I could turn it up a bit for sativa doms when they stretch all to hell. But, overall I am satisfied with it. That 600 though. Yeah man that's kick ass but, it would put me to doing more work than I wanna do at my hobby. lol. Clearly you are more ambitous, or perhaps just less lazy than I. lol. Rock on in the peace and love brutha.I'm trying a 600watt dimmable set up. I want to alternate between herb and vegetables personal/hobby as well. Gardening is supposed to be therapeutic
It's all good bro. 80% of ROLLITUP discussion turns into a shit fest. lol. It's funnier when ya ain't involved tho. But like I said my light is really old and I'm not 100% sure that it is Mars or that they still build quality lights. But I've also seen some good journals of people who have grown with them. So by my experience I can say Blurple works. Maybe I just got lucky and got a better light I don't know. Anyway. It's all good bro.I don't mean to actually talk shit on MarsHydro. Lol I'm not trying nothing crazy it could just provide flexibility per what I'm doing and I want a damn avocado tree. In fact I'm a startotal germination on a avocado pit now! I'm inspired. I might smoke a bowl and completely forget just the sameAfter I got my 150 HPS for $65, it was a HTG Supply brand from them on eBay shipped. I saw a dimmable 25o HPS for just like $100. lol I love trees. I'm not great them tho. I adopted an abused Limectree and it's still doing well in a 5 gallon. I bring it in during the winter. I tried lemon and cherry tree seeds. I couldn't get them to germ tho. Bought some small banana trees past year and brought them in with the line tree. They didn't come back. I also have some peppers and onions going. Peppers in 2-3 gallons outside at the moment. Yeah growing is kinda cool. I am certainly only a novice except at my easy indoor method. I use soil and the basic Lucas formula with MaxiBloom powder. It's so easy as long as you don't forget to water when it needs it. Seriously anyone could do it. I believe a monkey could easily be trained to grow my little micro. Goid luck man. That 600 I read is one of the most efficient/effective HID.Lol I'm not trying nothing crazy it could just provide flexibility per what I'm doing and I want a damn avocado tree. Gosh as fast as light technology is growing, it makes me feel so old. Seems like just yesterday I was slowly replacing all the incandescent bulbs in my home with the more expensive CFL because they use less energy and last so much longer. It was probably more like 6/7 years ago and now CFL is dirt cheap and you can't even find incandescent bulbs anymore. Now, CFL is being replaced by LED. It's still pretty expensive compared to CFL bulbs tho. And LED is becoming COB LED. Damn the tech curve has turned up so hard what used to take years to come to be has now become the lifespan and obsolescence of a technology. The digital age tho. It's a beautiful thing. Same thing is happening with grow lights. I think as COB gets cheaper and more efficient it may eventually kill the HID incandescent lights except for old school. At least from what I see from other well respected growers who and the trend to switch over to COB.Also, HIDs are noticeably depleting energy as it's being produced from power plants in legal states. Guaranteed, in the future, there's going to be some regulation on efficiency and HIDs will become dinosaurs, especially with the emergence of COBs.
We're already starting to replace HIDs with LEDs for this very reason.
That's fair, or I can just send you one for cost of shipping... Your call. I'm just trying to make sure it gets usedWell I just ordered this and I'm gonna see if the heat is to much or not and decide wich one to keep I gotta play with one before I can feel secure with my investments.
Not accurate you can make a good cob light for $150.. But it wount be as efficient as the high end onesGo on YouTube plenty of Mars hydro grows with good results is cob better yes but for a hundred bucks I'm sure your not expecting cob results ...
