Be that as it may, the anecdotal evidence is all but overwhelming. A guy recently completed a run under a 630W (from the wall) Johnson Grow Lights Maximizer and pulled 950g of really pretty product.
So IMO there's a pattern emerging, where under the right conditions 600W of COB LED matches the results of 1000W of HID.
I will be at the SCCC&Expo (southren california cannabis conference) i was at canna expo this year as well.
People are still burned by the burlpe LED damage. then try and telll'em about the newer tecnologies. soon as you say LED, and the wall goes up. its hard to explain to a person who invested thosuands in this wonderful new lighting in 2008 only to get burned. they have not forgotten, they have alot of vaild information. they want to set it and forget it. I have never set foot in an all LED lit facility. (I see lots of photoshop ones) i have seen T5's dropped for LED in propagation/clones. its enough to change bulbs in your main, getting under smaller spaces and reaplacing tubes on 1-12+ 8 bulb T5 fixtures is a hassle. its just less work, then a less power thing.
I have seen a slight, meh, at least conceding that at home in a small(er) grows see the LED as an (better?) option. LED is much more fun to: hobby/breed/pheno hunt with, then a large HPS/MH set ups. LEDS are more fun, i think thats important, less worry means more time for creativity and risk taking.
but when you have a 6k+ light bill you just dont want to fuck around you go with the solid.
so from my feet on the ground, the biggest changes are from SE to DE and T5 to LED.
I think CMH is (gettting more) popular becasue: its cheaper then a good LED light, and uses less power then a cheaper HPS light. I think from a $ angle CMH lights, cost less, use less power+Bulb life. they have thier niche too. I can see some dank being done in a 3x6 under 2 315's. total set up cost $1500. guessing yields in the 480-520g range. by novice hobbist.
