Was over on the shroomery. What a bunch of pricks
RIU is pretty bad when it comes to newbies asking questions. Blows my mind when someone is like go research that shit before posting on this forum blah blah blah and I am all like hey man its a fucking forum... there wouldn't be any content in the newbie section of the FORUM if newbies didn't ask questions. You think a newbie is going to ask some advanced level shit? But the well known members lurk there and post "about a pound" or "go google it you newbie" etc etc so yea riu is pretty bad too.
My thing is if they are so veteran and tired of newbie questions then why troll the newbie threads and answer on things they could simply click the back button on and just move on instead of being dicks? Are they REQUIRED to answer? Hell no they are not but they feel like they have to flame someone who doesn't know that what they are doing is a secret no no for this forum. Why is it so bad to ask how much do you think I'll yield? Does it physically hurt someone to ask that question? I personally like that question and like guessing to see if I turn out to be right but I'm just a member not a well known member. Maybe I'll get tired of questions in the future but its like gramama used to say "if you have nothing nice to say, then shut the fuck up"A lot of this happens because folks who actually DO try and help are called out by some who "think" they know an answer and then carry on long, protracted arguments for things they only have hippie myth knowledge of.
The guys who actually know shit, get tired of that crap and either leave or don't answer any more or throw out some humorous answer because they have seen that same stupid question hundreds of times! How often can you reply "No way to predict your yield with any accuracy" and not go stir crazy? Why didn't they search for an answer first? Not like there aren't answers available.
How about the guy who comes on and posts something like - "I just got my seeds/found a seed in a bag" and planted it. Now what do I do? Oh HELL NO! Why can't people actually read up on simply even growing a house plant? This is not the "let me hold your hand and guide you threw the whole growing a plant thing" Preschool ! How about reading a book on the topic? Learning something about what you want to do ahead of starting,,,,,,is PRICELESS! (more so for us!)
SURE thing newbies can ask questions! But after my time here and other sites also....You get flamed at the actual stupidity of some people with not the first clue to what they are doing!! Like I said - Learn something first!
I talk with guys that "started" here and PM me a lot of the time! I answer their questions and sometimes it goes on for many, many PM postings. I have plenty of patience for that. I was asked personally. How can you be angry with someone who takes the time to ask YOU a specific question......I have to admit, I too post the "humorous" answer to several questions all the time - I've seen them so much, a little humor makes them hurt less!
I don't pop in and call folks stupid or disrespect them for in my book "dumb" questions...
I think you should lighten up bit.
No truer words spoken. People do get tired of answering the same questions. But, this phenomena isn't just contained in rollitup. I've actually known noobies in the real world. And they are the same. Someone told them to do it like this or that! I can tell that someone probably read that on the net or a magazine. Every other method out there is probably more complicated than my own simple methods. But to them being more complicated, or more expensive can fast track one to becoming a weed scientist. So, they assume that advanced methods are the way to go. They look at me funny when I explain the simplest method to give you success. It is not my objective to be a weed scientist. My objective is only to grow vegs the cheapest, with the least amount of effort and have consistent dank results. That's all that really matters.A lot of this happens because folks who actually DO try and help are called out by some who "think" they know an answer and then carry on long, protracted arguments for things they only have hippie myth knowledge of.

My biggest thing is that this is a forum and it has a newbie section, it doesn't say please know the ins and outs of growing newbie section it says newbie section. But trolls will be trolls.
And by all means call people stupid, you're a dick. That's your purpose in this world is to be a dick and you serve a great purpose! Good for you. There I lightened up a little for you.
Opals? I googled it
You know those answers I give for the "How much will I yield" questions? The one's in "Mina's and Obals"?
those (for the most part) ARE actual estimates!
I just supply them in ancient measurements! I do it like a teacher in the hope they get the idea to "search" for the answer first, in future questions.
Hmm, I wonder how many actually google them to see what those are?
As with any search - wording the question is the key to success ! Very true for our search here!No truer words spoken. They look at me funny when I explain the simplest method to give you success. It is not my objective to be a weed scientist. My objective is only to grow vegs the cheapest, with the least amount of effort and have consistent dank results. That's all that really matters.
As an example. A noob I knew, someone told him to use the paper towel method to pop seeds. I'm like ok. I've done that and it works! But, now I just soak the seed for a while and put it in a damp cube or a solo cup with some soil in it.
Maybe a week later. He asked. How tall is yours? I hand gestured about 4". He was like damn! Mine is just barely out of the soil. I explained my method again and this particular gene popped in like two days lol. I mean, just because one method works, does not mean it is better and surely is not the only method one can choose! But noobs are hard to explain stuff too, because they are inundated with all the different growing methods and systems available. Different lights. Different mediums. Different nutes. I mean, lol. Your young. Your new. And you just wanna be the best weed scientist out there. So. As a noob, I guess it really is confusing.
Anyway, apparently someone told dude he should run his lights 24 hours. For an auto. I'm like, well I do like 12 or 16 hours on. I think they need a little rest. But, 24 will probably work well too. lol. Wonder what he chose? lol.
I will only explain my simple methods. I will not argue that one must use them. Either you choose to simply grow some dank. Or you can choose to complicate your methods in whatever way you feel the most comfortable. And we can both achieve similar results.
Also The RIU search kinda sux. I have found that using Google and perhaps including rollitup in the keywords sometimes gives better results.
I been thinking about doing a step by step simple, easy, cheap and fast how to. I mean do an entire micro setup for less than $200 and explain just how easy and carefree growing weed can be. I don't, because it's already out there. It's just lost in the endless ongoing discussions around here. Same ole same. Over and over again and that is how the entire internet is evolving. With undereducated opinions on every subject under the sun.
Peace and love.
i agree! BUT.. there are a lot of sticky threads with the answer for those questions, and at some point u get tired of the same questions that have been answered already.. While a lot of that may be true....you still have the type that are basically stuck up and think their shit don't stink..A lot of this happens because folks who actually DO try and help are called out by some who "think" they know an answer and then carry on long, protracted arguments for things they only have hippie myth knowledge of.
