I find it funny when people run around giving advice or their opinion when just a few months ago they were asking newb questions. Now they think they're an expert?

This is where being a pacifist really pulls throughYup not a whole lot of humility left in the world . Fuck I'm a newb and I've been doing this my whole life it seems . I try to offer up experiences, not advice ...... did I meantion I also hate responsibility .
Ya most of the time, trust me I get pissed as well though lol. This is where being a pacifist really pulls through
Try some pool shock. a 1lb bag will last forever. Been using it on my clones which have recently been put in net pots, finishing my current run now. I wouldn't go without anything, regardless of the chiller (I use one too). I made a solution of 1gram per gallon which is my concentrate, then use 4-5ml per gallon for treatment. Seems to be working well. Will be running it in my system here in the next couple days. Still have lots of hydroguard, but want to try something new.I'm pretty sure the best thing I've done is add a chiller to my system but the hydroguard seemed to kick it up a notch. I'm out so I may try a run without anything and see if I get the same results re root and plant health with just the chilled res. I've done the tea thing and it's a pain in the ass lol.
I have used pool shock and between it, H2O2, and hydroguard the hydroguard was the only thing that worked. The shock did keep it a bay but the only way to monitor it is with a meter, it has a tendency to build up in water if not monitored and was always concerned as to the amounts in the water, be that a valid point or not . Nope gonna stick with a beneficial just not sure what. Also ruled out pond stuff, that's when the rot started .Try some pool shock. a 1lb bag will last forever. Not sure if your aware but hydroguard, if opened, has a shelf life. Just wouldn't want to see you waste it, here it's like the price of platinum lol.Try some pool shock. a 1lb bag will last forever. Hey budley what's up. I got a question, so let me set the stage for it. When I was at the hydro shop a week ago I picked up some hydrogaurd and other stuff, the shop manager said if you like hydrogaurd check this out. And then he proceeded to show me Triathlon BA it has the same active ingredients as hydrogaurd . Here's where it got confusing for me the triathlon baby is .98% and the hydrogaurd is.038% . Those #s are probably not prefect recollections but you see the comparison. So he said for 10$ a gallon more I could make my own hydrogaurd and have like fifty gallons. Well I just didn't have confidence in the store guy. So my question is dry you or anyone else have any experience with this triathlon ba.I tried pool shock and had better results with hydroguard when I actually had rot. I also have 5 gallons of H2O2 and used it for a few years as well. So far hydroguard seems to have provided the best root growth in my set up so looking for a beneficial. Thanks though, I'll keep watching to see how yours works out.
What are you running? EWC are typically just one of the additions to a tea I think, well that's what I did . It was when I was using tea that the rot hit but temps were over 70 in an aero setup which is a invitation for rot. Pretty sure chilling the res is by far the best thing to do.looks like another specialized bacillus strain- they might have more a long lasting effect in your rez than some other microbes. I'm personally really liking great white, but the shit is so expensive. It definitely has one of the more broad ranges of microbes ive seen.
The fact of the matter tho- you can take almost any beneficial bacteria (mostly bacillus) and breed them to an extreme extent via tea if you want more. If you want more bacillus, it's pretty easy to get more. And most of those specialized single strains are probably geared to survive on more specific plant exudates- so should survive longer in the rez.
So if you want a good value, probably best to get a diverse source (EWC are good, Great White also) and breed em. Otherwise you just gotta pay the label price and hope its really the 'best' strain.
meh, its a good topic to pollute the thread with i think. So personally im experimenting with teas still, i use- great white + hydroguard + EWC + molasses + kelp + humics. It's worked ok on its own for a bit, but I'm using the tea sparingly- you still cant be totally sure whats in it and IMO it's best used on a healthy system that can support such diverse biolife.@Yesdog and @budleydoright thanks for reply. I just put all my faith in what the hydro store guy said. Not really just kidding . I trust your experience more than his sells pitch lol. Peace
@Yesdog are you running great white from start to finish, as I use it from day one I was just wandering what you like to do. Pm me if you want to so I don't high jack this tread.
And that's why I stay away from teas and didn't notice any benefit other than saving $20 on a multi thousand dollar grow.meh, its a good topic to pollute the thread with i think. Great white is pretty much a solo application on its own. I mix a bit with distilled water + a small bit of tea (or ive used floralicous+ with it, which is kelp and humic) and put it in a squirt bottle. Drench the top of the media liberally, poor the rest in the rez.
EDIT: using GW on its own for emergencies, because the tea can contain some unknown amount of sugars still- and if things didnt breed right, you might just be dumping sugar in your rez... causing all out germ warfare.
yea, honestly if your system is dialed in right, and your plants arent straight dumping dead biomass into the rez, you only need 1 species to really keep things clean. Something has to eat the sugars and stuff in the rez, so the point is just to beat the other organisms to the punch. My theory on the single-bacillus products is that they just survive longer in the rez- they're not wildly proliferating and blooming, but they're there, and hopefully in greater numbers than any other microbe that wants to move in.And that's why I stay away from teas and didn't notice any benefit other than saving $20 on a multi thousand dollar grow.
