Well I've already ran a sterile res, actually started with sterile and while it worked to a point there were just to many unknowns for my liking. How much do I add, when do I add more, it always seemed like a crap shoot. With benies it's not a problem if you add more than needed and I do believe the root mass benefited but that is only personal observation. This thread was started to see if there are cheaper alternatives to hydroguard or better ones but really doubt I'll ever return to a sterile res even though I have a huge jug of H2O2 lol.

Do you have any pics up of DWC grows you've done with organics?

Great White = powdered Orca. Really not sure what the difference is in the end having it premixed =\

Some people don't believe in trichoderma. I ran trichoderma alone one time with really bad results - no root rot, but not exactly the healthiest mass I've seen. It definitely had a negative effect on yield and quality.

After doing some research, I'm going to do a couple of trial runs using only bacillus subtilis GB03. There is alot of research(actual scientific experiments/studies) showing very positive results with this particular strain in hydroponic systems. It's also highly resistant to salts and survives in temperatures ranging from 45 to 115F.

I can only find 2 products - American Hydro Companion and Plantacillin

ive read about a few other super strains people are coming up (cant find the links) but most of them really don't seem available on a retail level. Breeding hydroguard is probably one of the best things we can do at a small level =\ Definitely keeping an eye on any new products. Growing the damn plants is hard enough, growing all this other shit... so complicated.

By the way, I ran into a couple of old threads talking trash on a product from Flying Skull called Z7. Several years ago, I was dealing with major root rot in all of my flowering rooms. Nothing seemed to work at getting rid of it. I ran into a rep at a grow shop sale, told him my problem, let him know that I go through 120 gallons per week, and he gave me enough sample bottles to get me through a run. The stuff works. It's an expensive 2 part, but you only use a half ml per gallon of each.

damn- yea something cheap would be super nice. wish i had a microscope and could just play around with breeding the shit- whichever strain or a few that seem to work best. even if you can just figure out how to activate and feed em for 1 day, getting 10-100x the dose could really make up for almost any sticker price.

Z7 isn't a beneficial, though the manufacturer claims it's compatible with them. Being that it's a 2 part, I think Part 1 is an enzyme product, and part 2 is maybe a surfactant and/or naturally occurring oil. The reason I feel that way is because part 2 reminds me of SM-90 in terms of smell, consistency, etc.

Who knows? It saved my ass.

A hydro shop guy gave me a sample of the flying skull. Not sure how or when to use it. Got any tips. Small time here, only 30 gallons in the system. Is it considered a prevention measure, or problem solver?

Z7? The two part?

You add it last, after you add your nutrients. Half a ml of part 1 per gallon, then half a ml of part 2. So in your case, 15 ml of each.

I add it at every reservoir change.

I am running Hydroguard in my NFTG mix. haven't run it side by side vs ????? I dont know what else offers what Hydroguard offfers
