I would agree spectrum is important, but not as important as total output, just a FYI ppl add MH to add more UV, COBs have zero UV. Also I would like to say if you are growing in two separate areas with two different growers the outcome will be different.

Well this is partially true. As I told the OP with once again no credit I recommended an agromax pure UV t5 in his area as well...... I was honestly giving the guy several choices and as much info as I could. It's pretty much well known cmh can give better quality as well as they are uv shielded. More blue can also increase quality. Most mh bulbs don't have much true UVB either as they are made not to because it's harmful to our eyes.

True, but it shows that COB's aren't a very solid stand alone light, they also lack heavily in the far red / inferred spectrum, and running a T5 in the same grow area as another light is a huge pain in the ass, if you hang them horizontally they block the lights that are above them and if you hang them vertically they don't really help the top buds. And the UV shielded MH are more in the non-horticultural industry, pretty sure hortilux bulbs have increased UV/blue output.

I really never claimed that cob led was the one fix it all solution. Actually I never mentioned cob led at all. What I am saying is an 80-90 CRI warm white phosphorus led is more complete than hps stand alone. I recommend those t5 agromax pure uv hung along the wall horizontally. One of those goes along ass way. I recommended that setup with whatever lighting he chooses.

Sorry this is straight up wrong , I have used those diodes numerious times, I am actually using them right now and HPS works a lot better, those are the diodes area 51 used to use. Bunch of XTE outdoor white.

Also at what wattage and intensity? You do understand that those use the same tech as cobs. Why they don't perform had more to do with the leds age ie they aren't as efficient as what is available today. Once upon a time their was incandescent then mercury vapor then hps then DE hps. Get the picture technologies mature....

Sorry but cobs are also phosphorus white leds as well as every other white led you run across basically.
My point is I have tried mono's and I have tried cobs and honestly hps works better , maybe you just aren't good at growing with one I mean they are more difficult to use and require more grower skill, gotta know how to deal with the heat and more light intensity.

They are more efficient than COB's 178 lumens/watt but I must not get the picture please show it to me.
